There is still plenty of unsigned talent in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area and I will be spotlighting some of the best ones in the coming weeks as we navigate our way through what will be a weird and abbreviated high school season. Here is my third five.
Ny'shae Weaver, Coppin Academy, 6'1 Forward
Ny’Shae is an explosive athlete with top end speed and impressive vertical gifts. She excels in the paint where she uses her size and explosiveness to simply shoot over defenders. She has good footwork and is a solid rebounder. She added a perimeter shot out to 15 feet. She is a very enthusiastic and vocal leader and will be an asset to whatever D1 program she decides on.
Nya Nicholson, Winchester Thurston (PA), 6’0" Forward
Nya is a superb athlete with an impressive vertical and wingspan. She excels at rebounding on both ends of the court and has the speed and versatility to play at the top of a press. She can put the ball on the floor and has some nice slashing moves in the paint. Low D1 would be a great fit for her and the school that lands her.
Amaree McKnight, National Christian Academy, 5’9" Guard
Amaree is a strong, solidly built guard with a nice three point shot. She has nice footwork in the paint and good vision. She uses her size well to crash the boards.
[player_tooltip player_id="136447" first="Dakota" last="Fisher"], Pikesville, 5’10" Forward
Dakota was hampered by injuries last season but is looking to bounce back. She will be relied upon to use her size in the paint where she is a good post defender and rebounder. She has a nice mid range shot and brings physicality to the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="136473" first="Arries" last="Ealy"], Coppin Academy, 5’11 Forward

Arries is a long, wiry, athletic forward that plays with an edge. She is a good rebounder and has a nice touch around the basket. She probably needs a juco for a year or two to refine her handle, but there is some untapped potential here.
