The Lady Gamecocks made the trip down to the beach to play the Lady Braves in a Saturday matinee. The Lady Gamecocks have stumbled here a bit since coming back from the long 2 month layoff due to Covid-19. The host Lady Braves battled with Sumter HS in the first half with just trailing 32-28 early in the 3rd quarter. The Lady Gamecocks would go on a 26-2 run to finish off Socastee HS 58-30 at the Brave Wave. Lets take a look at some notes from the game right here.
<strong>Freshmen Making Contributions:</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171802" first="Kiara" last="Croskey"]</strong> makes the engine go for Head Coach Jeff Schaffer’s program. Croskey recently picked up a offer from Ole Miss, plays the game so poised for her age on the floor. Croskey really has the ability to set-up her teammates with her crafty ball-handling and demeanor on the floor. Croskey really seems to be a step-ahead of the competition at times with her playmaking. Croskey finished the game with 14 points.

<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="195517" first="Keziyah" last="Sanders"]</strong> sees good minutes for the Lady Gamecocks and tends to play the game at times with a fearless attitude. Sanders was a very confident shooter from the perimeter knocking down a few three pointers on her way to 8 points.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="190150" first="Rickell" last="Brown"]</strong> and Sanders both played last summer with the Palmetto 76ers on the Grassroots Circuit when Prep Hoops Girls first saw them play. Brown a combo guard was able to get out in transition and score some cheapies today on her way to dropping 8 points in the win.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171801" first="Anna" last="Reese Pratt"]</strong> a post player for the Socastee HS Lady Braves was having a good day when she went down with a right ankle sprain. Reese Pratt has a great set of mitts and a soft touch around the basket. Reese Pratt keeps the ball up high when rebounding it and seems to be getting better and better every time out. Reese Pratt exited the game with 3:27 left in the 3rd quarter and never returned. Reese Pratt finished the game with 10 points.
<strong>New Name for the Database: </strong>
<strong>Tajanique Johnson</strong> (2021) was a new name for us here at Prep Girls Hoops yesterday. Johnson 5’5 shooting guard came out and started for the Lady Gamecocks on her way to scoring 14 points in the game. Johnson a jump shooter was able to knockdown some perimeter shots.

<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="215716" first="Mariah" last="Leinbach"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="208147" first="Sade" last="Quashie"]</strong> might of played there last game for the Socastee HS Lady Braves. Leinbach a small forward finished the game with 7 points. Leinbach scored 623 points in her career for the Lady Braves. Leinbach feels most comfortable playing out on the perimeter.

Quashie a athletic guard was over the floor today with her hustle. Quashie showed great hustle and wasn't afraid to get on the floor for a loose ball.

<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="124080" first="Layken" last="Cox"]</strong> a Gardner Webb signee managed just 4 points yesterday in the win. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171762" first="Alicia" last="Spann"]</strong> comes off the bench for the most part to back-up Cox scored 2 points while forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="124079" first="Inga" last="Colclough"]</strong> didn’t score. Going forward the Lady Gamecocks will need to get some more scoring pop from this trio to make some moves in the playoffs.
The Lady Gamecocks have a extremely busy week starting on Monday. The Lady Gamecocks have played 5 games in 11 days since returning from the Covid-19 shutdown. The Lady Gamecocks will host Conway HS (Monday), St James (Wednesday) and at Carolina Forest HS on Thursday. The Lady Gamecocks sit behind St James HS in the standings by one game after losing to the Lady Sharks earlier this week in Murrells Inlet.
