Division Four girls basketball in SW Ohio has always been very strong. In past years, teams who have come through the regionals in this area have been very successful in the state final four.
Today the first of two looks at the D4 sectionals in the region with a look today at the Brookville and Monroe sectionals, both full of talented players. Later, a look at the Sidney sectional.

If you are watching the games at Brookville, you will see some outstanding newcomers who are impressive as some talented freshman like [player_tooltip player_id="216011" first="Jordyn" last="Smoot"] (Catholic Central), Carlie Besecker (Covington) and Olivia Sease (Franklin Monroe) are players with a bright future ahead of them.
Tri Village is the #1 seed and they bring in a strong lineup with three players all capable of big nights. Sagester is a 5-7 guard with incredible range, able to score from anywhere at anytime. Her game has improved. Hunt is likely the most improved player in the Cross County Conference and both sophomores have established themselves as solid scholarship players. Downing is quietly putting up some great numbers, not only scoring and rebounding at a double-double rate but defensively she is a tremendous shot blocker.
[player_tooltip player_id="32619" first="Angie" last="Smith"] (Yellow Springs, 2022) has scored over 1,300 points in her career in just over two and a half seasons. She has great footwork and creates her shot well, Also leads the Metro Buckeye Conference in assists and steals. Can score from the perimeter or on the drive. Has to do so much for her team to be successful and she often does.
Another 2022 to watch is [player_tooltip player_id="32613" first="Austy" last="Miller"], a scoring guard at Bradford. In control of the offense with good handles, can score from behind the arc and sees the floor well. Will likely go for softball, but can play hoops at the next level.

Clearly the two top teams in this sectional are Country Day and Legacy Christian, as both teams have high profile scorers and athletes. Kamryn Jordan is a solid athletic guard who is the leader for CCD. They advanced to the regionals last season and look to make a run again this season. Legacy Christian returns Liberty-bound [player_tooltip player_id="32575" first="Emma" last="Hess"], the top D4 player in SW Ohio, along with hard-nosed guard [player_tooltip player_id="32589" first="Kathleen" last="Ahner"], who makes Legacy a formidable threat.
