Who are the Class of 2021’s Newcomers?
By Michael Wholey 2/6/21 5:00 PM EST
The Prep Girls Florida Hoops rankings are updated quarterly and this is our first release of the Senior class in the year 2021. Look for these to updated again in April, June and September. The list of players in the 2021 class that are ranked was dramatically increased based on players we have seen in the past 6-8 months with over 200+ new names. Here are some of the highest ranked newcomers.
# 31 [player_tooltip player_id="219992" first="Harsimran" last="Kaur"] (Central Pointe Christian Academy) 6’4 Forward
We have only had a limited amount of time to see Kaur play this year as she has missed most of the season with Central Pointe Christian Academy but the 6’4 Forward showcased her skills and why the University of San Diego signed her during the early fall signing period. In her limited games she averaged 7.1 points per game and 6.3 rounds per game while shooting 57% from the field. She is long, athletic, versatile, and can impact the game in multiple ways on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

McGill had a break out season this past spring with the Miami Suns earning her a full scholarship to Nova Southeastern. She has continued her stellar play in her Senior season for Nova High School being a steady presence on the offensive and defensive sides of the floor. At 5’8 she is strong and athletic and is a very solid defender. Her strength allows her to finish vs contact and take bumps on the perimeter and still get to the rim and often to the free throw line.

I had not had a chance to see Gardner much prior to this past travel season where she played very well for East Coast United North and Head Coach Scott Clark. The 5’8 guard is a solid combo guard who can play the role of point guard and run the team’s offense, set her teammates up for open shots, and be an extension of the coach on the floor. But at the same time she is a skilled offensive player who can knock down the open 3, create her own shot, and use her handle and 1on1 moves to get by her defender and wreck havoc in the paint.

# 59 [player_tooltip player_id="91541" first="Deborrah" last="Seitu-Redmon"] (Palm Beach Lakes / Essence) 5’8 Guard
Seitu-Redmon has been a great addition to Palm Beach Lakes after transferring from Benjamin School. She is a strong, dynamic scoring guard who is very god 15 feet using her mid-range jumper and ability to finish at the rim as well as get to the free throw line to fill up the stat sheet.

Amou signed with Embry Riddle this past fall for good reason. She is a long and athletic 6’2 Forward who can score, rebound, block shots as well as put the ball to the floor. Her skill set is broad and still developing but she has excellent potential and improves every time we see her play.

# 84 [player_tooltip player_id="219960" first="Mya" last="Lamar"] (Tampa Bay Tech) 6’2 Center
Bigs are always in high demand and Lamar is one of the top posts available in the 2021 class. She has exceptional size and mass and is a true back to basket post player who is comfortable at the low block.

# 106 [player_tooltip player_id="215660" first="Chynna" last="Mattair"] (Dillard HS) 5’7 Guard
Mattair signed with St. Leo in the fall after showcasing her athleticism and ability to score in the open floor and transition to her future college coaches. She is an athletic guard who flies all over the court and can impact the game on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

# 107 [player_tooltip player_id="215661" first="Adrianna" last="Atkinson"] (Westminster Academy) 6’2 Forward
Atkinson is a 6’2 forward who can play inside and out. She has solid 15 feet range and can put the ball to the floor from the high post. She is a shot blocker and rebounder who uses her size and length to affect opponents shots and control the paint.

McCormick was named 1st team all county last year as a junior mainly because of her versatility. At 5’10 she can play the 1, 2 and 3. She has been a steady perimeter presence for Cardinal Gibbons for her entire career typically leading the Chiefs in scoring.

# 120 [player_tooltip player_id="244124" first="Kiara" last="Cruz"] (Miami Senior HS / Miami Suns South) 5’4 Shooting Guard
Cruz had some big shoes to fill after Miami Senior HS graduated their big 3 in the 2020 class after winning the state championship. Cruz has stepped up, increasing her role from sidekick to being one of the players go to players. She is a dangerous offensive threat whose biggest strength is her 3-point shooting but she has a solid shot fake where she can pull up from mid-range or get all the way to the rim. The 5’4 guard can play both the 1 and 2 and never gets too high or too low but is always dangerous whenever she touches the ball.

# 175 [player_tooltip player_id="244177" first="Alyssa" last="Doyle"] (Ovideo High School) 5’8 Guard
All you have to do is look at an Oviedo High School stat sheet after the game to see what Doyle is doing in her final season of high school. She is leading her team in scoring at over 16 points per game, scoring in double figures all but one game this season while shooting an impressive 45% from 3. The 5’8 guard is capable of going off for 20+ points on any given night!
