Our next positional breakdown of the new class of 2021 rankings looks at the best forwards among the graduating seniors. As with forwards in general, versatility is a key trait for the class’s top forwards, and these players are mostly well-polished and ready for the college game.
[player_tooltip player_id="31848" first="Mya" last="Meredith"], Scott- After losing her junior season to a knee injury, Meredith made a major comeback to re-establish herself as one of the top players in the state this season. She has all the traits one could want from a top forward, combining great size and athleticism with multi-level scoring ability and strong rebounding.
[player_tooltip player_id="88416" first="Tiarra" last="East"], Butler- Another player who has the makeup of prototypical forward, everything said about Meredith’s size and athleticism goes for East as well. The primary difference between the two is that East’s role is one piece of a loaded team, meaning she has shown the ability to make an impact doing all the little things as a supporting player as well as taking over a game.
[player_tooltip player_id="88417" first="Elise" last="Ellison-Coons"], Dunbar- Another player possessing the do-it-all ability needed from a forward, Ellison-Coons is a top-notch scorer, rebounder, playmaker, and defender for her position. She plays with a toughness and hustle that can’t be taught, making her a valuable player for any team at any level.
[player_tooltip player_id="36208" first="Ella" last="Thompson"], Bethlehem- Part of arguably the most loaded team in the state, Thompson still manages to put up big-time stats while being surrounded by other elite players. Like other forwards she scores and rebounds at a top rate, and does so shooting efficiently from the field and the line (which she gets to frequently.)
[player_tooltip player_id="31866" first="Casey" last="Coleman"], Rockcastle County- Another scorer who shoots a high percentage from the field and line, Coleman is one of the more traditional post players on this list, but she has done a great job expanding her game to the outside, adding a solid face-up game and jump shot to make her a complete modern forward.
[player_tooltip player_id="154514" first="Aleigha" last="Mucker"], Breckinridge County- Less high profile than some other players on this list, Mucker has had a strong senior season, showing the ability to fill the stat with a number of explosive outbursts. She is also a more traditional post player but has shown a nice outside shot to compliment her inside game.
[player_tooltip player_id="88433" first="Rory" last="O’Hara"], Highlands- O’Hara followed up a great summer with a strong senior season, filling a valuable do-it-all role for a strong Highlands team. She was a consistently good shooter and rebounder, showing the kind of versatility that has been a theme on this list.
