Our next positional breakdown of the class of 2021 looks at the most loaded position in this and perhaps any other class. All the players on this list rank in the top 22 players in the class, and several others in the top 30 just missed the cut. Aside from being incredibly talented, these players’ multifaceted skillsets are what make them stand out.
[player_tooltip player_id="31853" first="Macey" last="Blevins"], Wayne County- A player who embodies the do-it-all nature of a wing, Blevins has the ability to affect the game in every way imaginable on both sides of the ball. Her standout trait is her superb shooting, giving her explosive scoring ability to go along with everything else she does well.
[player_tooltip player_id="31850" first="Harley" last="Paynter"], Boyd County- One of the favorites for Miss Basketball, Paynter is another do-it-all player who can carry her team by scoring, rebounding, playmaking, and defending. She’s capped off a great career with a strong senior season, cementing her place as one of the state’s top overall players.
[player_tooltip player_id="88421" first="Brie" last="Crittendon"], Ryle- Continuing the do-it-all trend, Crittendon is yet another wing who is solid in every area of the game. She’s been fortunate to spend her career on loaded Ryle teams and has taken advantage by serving as a playmaker and doing the little things as often as she has taken over games herself, showing a versatility of roles that should be valuable going forward.
[player_tooltip player_id="88415" first="Jacqueline" last="Jackson"], Greenwood- After losing her junior season to injury, Jackson has rebounded with a solid senior year to re-establish herself as one of the best players in the state. She’s an explosive player, a tool that serves her well when it comes to both scoring and rebounding.
[player_tooltip player_id="31854" first="Presley" last="Partin"], Knox Central- One of the better scorers on this list, which is saying something, Partin is a great shooter from long range. Whether creating her own shot or serving as a spot-up shooter, Partin excels at knocking down 3s.
[player_tooltip player_id="31855" first="Whitney" last="Caldwell"], Pineville- Another great shooter, Caldwell is more than just a threat from deep, as she has also shown the ability to get to the line and knock down shots at an impressive rate for a player who does so much of her damage on the perimeter. She also has the positional versatility and well-rounded skillset shared by all the players on this list.
[player_tooltip player_id="88435" first="Dynastee" last="White"], Butler- One of the most underrated players on this list and in the state as a whole, White has taken more of a backseat throughout her career rather than the flashy lead scoring role many others on this list take on. That doesn’t make her any less of a player, as she’s an awesome defender at multiple positions in addition to a solid inside scorer and rebounder.
[player_tooltip player_id="154515" first="Shelby" last="Stewart"], Corbin- Continuing our run of great shooters, Stewart has been the most productive 3 point shooter on this list in her senior season, knocking down 2.5 deep balls per game this season at an outstanding 38.8%. This combination of volume and efficiency is incredibly valuable and earns her the last spot on this elite list.
