Well, I’m bringing the term back because the class of 2025 has some young talent that will be trying to make their mark when they get a chance to suit up for their prospective high school. Though the entire class has yet to form or even reach its peak, some young ladies have stood out amongst others early on in the process of evaluation. As these girls finish out their 8th-grade year, look for them to come in and make some noise in June as they join their next group of teammates. Here are some young ladies who are gearing up to make the class of 2025 o’ so sweet.
Clair Shumake ( SG, Central Magnet)– This young lady will look to contribute to the HS team right away. She has incredible athleticism that allows her to create space and get to the lane. Her forte is the 3pt ball, as she won the 3point contest in Rutherford County this past year. She has an impeccable knack for reading screens and getting her feet set so she can catch and shoot. She plays the game with toughness and does the little things that contribute to her team’s success.
McCall Sims- (PG, Martin Middle)– Basketball is in her blood as she is the niece of one of Vanderbilt’s finest, Ashley McElhiney. McCall has a high basketball IQ and can shoot the ball from all 3 levels at a high clip. She will add some firepower to Westview next year as she brings a ton of positive attributes to the table. McCall has a motor on her, that allows her to attack gaps to create shots and opportunities for others. She has incredible instincts and anticipates well on defense. Look for her and Jada Harrison Jada Harrison 5'8" | PG Martin Westview | 2023 State TN to create an incredible 1-2 punch at Westview for the next couple of years.
Reece Beaty (PG, York Institute)– The 5’2 PG is already getting looks from D1 schools. She saw significant minutes as an 8th grader for the York Dragonettes. Reece is outstanding with the ball in her hands. She is a threat any time she touches the ball. She can dial it from deep, run the offense with poise, and attack gaps, which leads to easy buckets for her teammates. Look for her to get even better as she progresses throughout high school.
Bella Ferguson( SG, Sulphur Springs)– According to Coach Jason Long, she is one of the hardest workers he has ever seen. She is a coach on the floor and displays great court vision. Bella scored over 1000 pts in her middle school career. She shoots the ball lights out and can get to the rim. Her defensive ability allows her to jump passing lanes and go the distance scoring high percentage shots. Look for her to provide an immediate impact for Daniel Boone High School.
Dana Harmon (PG, Madisonville)– This playmaking PG can score the ball from multiple spots on the floor. She can attack from the wing or by bringing the ball up the court attacking from the slots. She has a high basketball IQ that allows her to run the offense and see gaps to attack. Sequoyah High School will be getting a hidden gem as they look to continue to build up their program.
