<strong>Florida Roundup: News Around Florida Volume 11</strong>

<em>The High School Season has concluded, and 7 State Champions were crowned. Let’s take a look around Florida on what has been going on in the last couple weeks. </em>
<strong>Al Honor</strong> (Lake Highland Prep) has been selected as Naismith Girls High School Coast of the Year. After leading Lake Highland Prep to an undefeated season, a state championship and a top 5 national ranking, Coach Honor was recognized for his coaching this season. In addition, Lake Highland Prep season is not over, as they have been selected to participate in the GEICO Nationals April 2-3 in Fort Myers, FL to compete for a national championship. The four-team field is set as Lake Highland Prep will go up against Westlake (GA), Paul VI (VA), and Fremont (Utah). All four participating teams are undefeated, and it will be over a month in between games for Coach Honor and Lake Highland Prep as they last played February 27 in the State Championship.

<strong>COLLEGE RECRUITING NEWS </strong>

She had verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin two years ago but made the decision to re-open her recruiting after Wisconsin Head Coach Jonathan Tsispis was recently relieved of his duties as head coach.

The 5’6 savvy guard recently verbally committed to Canisius College in New York.

The 5’7 Guard averaged 22.6 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals per game this season for the Flying L’s.
2021 5’8 Guard <strong>Camille Samuel</strong> (Tampa Prep) has committed to Macalester College (MN) to continue her education and her basketball career.
2021 5’6 Guard <strong>Stephanie Almodovar</strong> (Mater Lakes) recently made the decision to commit to Fort Scott (KS).
2021<strong> Valentina Ojeda (</strong>Montverde Academy) recently verbally committed to Independence Community College (KS).
2021 Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244149" first="Alyanna" last="McGrath"]</strong> (Coral Glades HS) is headed to Georgia to suit it up for Oglethorpe University.
2021 <strong>Joselish De Pool Maisonet</strong> is headed to NYACK College.

<strong>Who Is Staying in Florida? </strong>
<em>A number of players made recruiting decisions that will keep them in the sunshine state. </em>

2021 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="243965" first="Maria" last="Myklebust"]</strong> (Montverde Academy) is headed to the panhandle next season to play at Northwest Florida State College.
2021 <strong>Jania James</strong> (West Orange HS) is staying in Florida and will sit it up for Warner University.
2021 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="219961" first="Kyla" last="Cruz"]</strong> (West Orange HS) is also staying in Florida and is headed to Hillsborough CC next season!
2021 6’0 Forward/Center <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91529" first="Alana" last="Sharpe"]</strong> (Western HS) will join [player_tooltip player_id="219961" first="Kyla" last="Cruz"] at Hillsborough CC.
2021 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91495" first="Taviyanna" last="Habib"]</strong> (Armwood HS) is headed to Indian River CC.
2021 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="146966" first="Keegan" last="Brace"]</strong> (Lake Howell / TNBA South) was ranked as one of the state’s top uncommitted guards and recently made the decision to continue her academic and athletic career at Flagler.

<strong>TRANSFER NEWS </strong>

The 6’2 <strong>Barker</strong> played her first 3 years of high school at Tampa Bay Tech while 6’1 <strong>Codio</strong> spent her first 3 seasons at American Heritage Del Ray. Montverde is coming off an exceptional season that had them ranked consistently in the top 5 of the country. <strong>Codio</strong> and <strong>Barker</strong> are a huge boost to an already extremely talented roster!
