With the AAU season approaching here quickly, there are many players that will be attracting the attention of college coaches. Highlighted below are a few of those players to watch in the coming months as we get rolling with the AAU circuit. [player_tooltip player_id="63032" first="Kelsey" last="Joens"], 5’10, SG, Iowa City High--Kelsey is a talented shooting guard that will be turning heads this 2021 AAU season as she continues her stellar career with the elite All Iowa Attack team. This sophomore sharpshooter can stroke it from every spot on the court, is very consistent with her shot, and can put them up in a hurry. She also displays the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, and can finish with both her right and left hand. With her combination of strength and aggression, she can finish in traffic very well. She also is very effective on the defensive end, and can rack up several rebounds. Many comparisons can be seen between her and her three older sisters, whom all are former/current Division I women’s basketball players. This City High talent put up some good numbers this high school season with a little under 19 PPG, 5 RPG, 3 APG, and 2 SPG. A very highly skilled player for college coaches to keep an eye on as we head into the season starting here this April. [player_tooltip player_id="246099" first="Callie" last="Levin"], 5’9, PG, Solon--Callie is a versatile guard that will surely be making some noise this 2021 AAU season as she continues to stand out with the elite All Iowa Attack team. This freshman sensation is just a 9th grader, and she is only going to get better and enhance her craft. She has a pure shooting stroke, and can hit 3-pointers off the catch, as well as off the dribble by creating her own shot. With her length and athleticism, she can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. She displays the ability to finish with both her right and left hand. Her court awareness with her ability to see the floor and make players around her better will make her a dangerous floor general. With her wing span, she can get her hands on passes and pick up many steals, so she is also very efficient on the defensive end. This Solon HS product put up some good numbers in her first varsity season with a little under 19 PPG, 4 APG, 4 SPG, and 5 RPG. With a scholarship offer from the University of Arkansas under her belt, this is a youngster with tremendous upside for college coaches to put on their radar as we head into the season starting here this April. [player_tooltip player_id="63613" first="Lauren" last="Wilson"], 6’0, PF/C, Springville--Lauren is a dominant power forward/center that will be catching people’s eyes this 2021 AAU season as she plays with the elite All Iowa Attack team. This current junior, senior to be, has a lot to offer on both ends of the court and can put up some big numbers. With her size and strength, she has the ability to get a lot of buckets off of rebounds, both offensive and defensive. She also displays good post moves that make her a difficult threat to guard. She has the knack to get several blocks each game, and can create a lot of havoc for opposing players driving to the basket. Her ability to score the basketball, and shoot at a high percentage also makes her a pivotal overall player. She can also step out to the 3-point line and hit some shots as well. This Springville HS skilled player put up some good numbers this high school season averaging a double double with a little over 17 PPG, 10 RPG, 4 BPG, 4 APG, and 2 SPG. A great player for college coaches to follow closely as we head into the season starting here this April. [player_tooltip player_id="63010" first="Aaliyah" last="Beier"], 5’6, PG, Linn-Mar--Aaliyah is an exciting guard that will be a player to look out for this 2021 AAU season as she plays with the elite Team Iowa team. This “fun to watch” sophomore puts on a show everytime she steps out on the court. That is, an easy show. Her ability to shoot the 3 with ease, put the ball on the floor and get to the rim with ease, and finish with ease makes her a total offensive threat. With the size she lacks, she makes up for it with talent and athleticism. She will definitely be making an impact at Linn-Mar HS in upcoming seasons. A tremendous player for college coaches to identify and follow as we head into the season starting here this April. [player_tooltip player_id="129014" first="Sadie" last="Struchen"], 5’11, SG, Marion--Sadie is a high level shooting guard that will be a player to watch this 2021 AAU season as she plays with the elite All Iowa Attack team. This versatile junior, senior to be, has a very quick release on her 3-point shot, can shoot off the dribble, and doesn’t need a lot of space to get the shot off. She can shoot from every spot on the floor, and displays great consistency. She also has a nice jumper in the lane, and has the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. She can finish with both her right and left hand. She also has a high basketball IQ, and has great court awareness. This Marion HS sharpshooter put up some good numbers this high school season with a little under 11 PPG, 3 RPG, and 2 APG. A terrific player for college coaches to check out as we head into the season starting here this April.
