Kam Corporan 5’6 2024 Monsignor Pace
Corporan rocks defenders side to side with one of the best crossovers I’ve seen at the high school level. With multiple 20-point outings as a Freshman, she led a Spartans group in scoring that finished 14-5. Corporan has phenomenal speed, when you mix that with her shifty handle and ability to finish at the rim opponents are in for a long night when she gets rolling. When she starts consistently hitting jumpers off the bounce after a combo of moves, she is a legit scoring point guard. She also is able to find teammates for easy finishes by lulling defenders into ball watching. I was impressed by how she is always attacking. Defensively she is a stud, with great anticipation and the athleticism to shoot gaps, 5 steals a night doesn’t happen by accident, and when she gets in the open court with one defender to beat, good luck. My favorite number is 59% from the field, which is a nod to how well she gets into the paint. Becoming more poised will come with time for her, and once she develops the ability to change her pace and control the tempo of a game, Dade-County is certainly in trouble, maybe even the state.
Aspen Johnson Aspen Johnson SF Seminole Ridge | 2021 State FL 5’11 2022 Seminole Ridge
Johnson’s size and ability to make plays off the bounce is what stood out to me. She does a good job of getting the ball into her shooting pocket, and when her jumper is falling she can do damage. She will shoot it spotting up, and my favorite thing was her going downhill and being able to stop on a dime and raise up for a pull-up. My favorite thing was her ability from mid-range, this gives Johnson the chance to be a legit 3 level scorer. At 5’11 she is capable when finishing around the rim, and will get herself into the paint when driving. She rebounds it well, and also averaged just under 5 assists as a Junior. With her teammate and PBA commit Jahnae Midget Jahnae Midget 5'11" | SF Seminole Ridge | 2021 State FL graduating, after a season with Team Knight, Johnson will be in great shape to lead the Hawks in her last go-around.
Nandi Ramessar 5’7 2024 Western
A solid young player and capable scorer, I like the activity she showed defensively. She pushes the ball well on the break and has these long strides that show her raw athleticism. The rising Sophomore finishes well around the rim and does a good job of driving open gaps and filling her lane. I think developing a left hand will be huge for her, she has guard skills and at 5’7 this young, you have to think she will grow a bit more. She earned minutes as a Freshman on a very well ran Western team, for her to earn her coach’s trust this early in her career speaks to the potential Ramessar has.
Sydney Blue Sydney Blue 5'9" | SG Spanish River | 2022 State FL 5’8 2022 Spanish River
Numbers don’t lie, and the numbers show Sydney Blue Sydney Blue 5'9" | SG Spanish River | 2022 State FL can defend. She does a good job of shooting gaps and being active in passing lanes, and has the handle and touch around the rim to go and finish with either hand for 2 after she steals it. I like her court-vision the most, college coaches will like her ability to facilitate and get her teammates good looks. Her pursuit of 50-50 balls impressed me, and the way she pushes in transition really puts pressure on the defense. I watched her split a trap which is rare amongst her level. There are more ways to affect a game than scoring, Blue is a stat-sheet stuffer.
Ka’Myra Butler Ka’Myra Butler 5'10" | PF Nova HS | 2022 State FL 5’9 2022 Team Knight
Butler’s steady handle and length stood out to me. She has a very good frame for being able to play the Guard spot, with a good wingspan and an athletic build. Butler passed the ball well, getting her teammate’s easy looks after drawing multiple defenders. A player’s attitude is something college coaches pay attention to, and she played with a joy about her that was contagious. As a Sophomore Butler contributed to a Nova team that finished 24-6, receiving honorable mention playing around some really good talent in McGill, and the Delancy sisters. Butler can rebound, and initiate the break, and college coaches will like her ability to play in the high post area and on the perimeter.
Kristina Godfrey Kristina Godfrey 5'7" | PG Miami Country Day | 2023 State FL 5’9 2023 Miami Country Day
Godfrey plays the Point Guard spot like a seasoned vet. I watched her in an AAU workout just a few days removed from winning a state title and she was dominant. When Country Day lost key pieces to transfer, Coach Swaby and his group didn’t seem to blink, and I would imagine having Kristina Godfrey Kristina Godfrey 5'7" | PG Miami Country Day | 2023 State FL at the helm played a part in the resilience the program showed. My favorite part of her game is how crafty she is when she attacks, she did a spin move that got ooh’s and ah’s from the entire gym, and to her, it was just what she does. Godfrey can finish with both hands, and in different ways. She has body control that cannot be taught, and she may be at her best when going downhill. She has a motor that college coaches will love, and the defense has to respect her perimeter shooting. One of the best passers I’ve seen at the high school level, Godfrey got hers while getting Daly and Nelms their touches. A savvy lefty with a high-level IQ, I knew about Godfrey before seeing her in person, and she still made me a fan.
Abby Price 5’9 2025 Team Knight
I have touched on the advantage of coaches kids in the past, and the story is no different with Abby Price. She is a gym rat, who soaks up the knowledge of the game she grew up surrounded by and it translates onto the court. She stood out to me in a gym full of high-level talent, and she has yet to play her first high school game. A great spot-up shooter, Price can do real damage from deep. She has the jab-step into a 3 which is rare for her age, the work she has put in shows in her mechanics. I watched her show versatility, making shots off the dribble as well, and she has range. She has great size with the ability to play on or off the ball. I am interested to watch her development on whether she focuses on being a knockdown shooter or becomes a scoring point guard. It’s always fun to watch the bench when great shooters get their feet set and lock in on a shot, you will see her teammates hold three fingers in the air before she even lets it fly because they know. Price is a prospect.
Samantha Bautista 5’6 2025 Miami Suns
The most impressive grassroots player I have seen as of late, Bautista will be a force in Florida for years to come, and maybe even nationally. Her IQ is very good, and she is a flat-out playmaker. With certain players you can see that they are dedicated and are students of the game, this is the case with Bautista. I noticed a laser-sharp focus and it shows in her play. The 5’6 guard can handle the ball with the best of them, and she has a jump-shot with all the right mechanics. She can shoot it off the dribble, after rocking defenders off-balance, has the runner in the lane, and has moves that are beyond her years. Bautista can score at all three levels, attacking the rim, catch and shoot, and will finish through contact. The program that lands her will be getting a stud.
