The Travel season has kicked off. We will check in with teams all around the state with an outlook on their season and a breakdown of some of their top players. This week we take a look at Miami Suns Top 16U Team Miami Suns Team Larkins
2023 Nazeyah Damon 6’0 Wing (Paul VI)
Damon is a high effort, physical wing who has a strong build that is college ready now. She has the ability to guarding multiple positions inside and out, using her great combination of strength, size and athleticism. She is quick to the ball on both ends and finishes well vs contact in the paint.
2023 Kristina Godfrey Kristina Godfrey 5'7" | PG Miami Country Day | 2023 State FL 5’9 Guard (Miami Country Day)
Godfrey is an agile, lefty combo guard with range well beyond the 3-point line. She plays well off the bounce, getting into the paint to showcase her mid-range game or attacking and getting all the way to the rim.
2023 Reina Green Reina Green 5'10" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL 5’9 Guard (St Thomas Aquinas)
Green’s body and athleticism stands out right from warmups. She is a super athletic combo guard with potential through the ceiling. She has a big time vertical and is an excellent rebounder from the guard spot. She is very good in space as a penetrator both in the half court and in transition. She needs to improve decision making and continue learning how to use athleticism to her advantage.
2023 Bella Guevara 5’5 Guard (Miami Country Day)
Bella is a solid, high IQ point guard who plays hard on both ends of the floor. She is a pass first point guard who looks to distribute the ball to teammates in scoring positions. She is an average athlete who is very steady with consistent play.
2023 Aicha Keita Aicha Keita 6'1" | SF Miami Country Day | 2023 State FL 6’0 Wing/Forward (Miami Country Day)
Keitha is a long, stretch 4 who has a huge upside as she grows into her body and gets stronger. She has developed a consistent 3-point shot and has the ability to put the ball to the floor from the wing and attack the rim. She needs to develop more of a physical presence and play more aggressive to be a more impactful player.
2023 Jordan Race Jordan Race 5'11" | SF King's Academy | 2023 State FL 5’11 Wing (King’s Academy)
Race body and length are impressive, and she has major upside as she continues to grow into her body and get stronger. She is an offensive threat to knock down the open 3 and also has the ability to finish around the rim. She is a newcomer to the Miami Suns organization and look forward to seeing her improve throughout the summer as she gets used to playing players equal to her size and strength game in and game out.
2023 Iladian Vázquez 5’8 Guard (Ecedao, PR)
Vazquez is a smart combo guard with a good looking stroke on her shot. She is consistently around the ball on both ends of the floor and has a really good feel for the game with good instincts. She is a newcomer to the Suns as she is from Puerto Rico. Look for Vazquez to improve throughout the spring / summer as she gets more comfortable.
2023 Alaina Williams Alaina Williams 6'1" | PF Brooks De Bartelo | 2023 State FL 6’0 Forward (Tampa Bay Tech)
Williams gives the Suns an inside presence with great length and size. She is most effective on the inside but also has the ability to knock down the open shot from 15 feet as well as take opponents off the dribble from the high post. She is young and raw and needs to learn how to stay out of foul trouble and develop more patience on the offensive end letting the game come to her.
2024 Kamryn Corporan Kamryn Corporan 5'3" | PG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL 5’6 Guard (Pace High School)
Corporan was not with the Suns this past weekend for the Sunshine State Showdown but look for her to be an impactful player from the PG spot after a stellar Freshman campaign at Pace. She is an athletic, shifty scoring point guard who looks to attack every time the ball is in her hands. She is at her best in the paint scoring at the rim but also has the ability to knock it down from 3.
2024 Sofia Mendez 5’8 Guard (Carrolton School)
Mendez has two years under her belt as a varsity player and has put up big numbers on the offensive end. She is a knock down shooter with a high basketball IQ and good decision making. She is a capable ball handler and can equally play off the ball taking the advance pass to attack the rim and look to score.
