How pumped was I after opening day, I woke up at 3 am tweeting out pictures because I was somewhat overwhelmed at not only the new faces but the progression I saw in so many young ladies, especially some I hadn't seen in years so with that being said, today will be a very long day and I'm ready but check out some of my sightings
2021
Rachel Early-5'7 G (New Mexico D1 2022) Dobson
Dobson put on one of the best long-ball shooting performances of the night dropping 5 from BTA yet it's the way she did it. tightly guarded while creating it and it created opportunities for her teammates because she also saw the floor and hit them on the money
2022
Claire Graham-6-8 G (Platinum Basketball Bruce) Jim Ned
Graham's coach told me he had some players, he was correct and several stood out including [player_tooltip player_id="314164" first="Tristin" last="Keller"]-5'8 G (Mason) and Audrey Beaty-6'2 P (Aubrey). Keller has already committed to Abilene Christian, Beaty has offers on the table and so does Graham as she ran the pick and roll to perfection but watching her create her shot, under pressure over and over and drop it from mid to long-range as well as see the floor helped get my adrenaline going for the evening
[player_tooltip player_id="160440" first="Mikayla" last="Parks"]-5'8 G (Trae Young Elite 2022) Norman
Parks made me realize how old I actually was because I remember her as a 6th grader going completely off against older players yet he poise was one of the things that told me she was going to be a terror, of course, I was right and she's scary in so many ways on the court, all good, because she's hard to defend. If you guard her too tightly, she goes by you to score, if you give her room, she's going to drop the mid to long-range and if you double-team her, she's definitely going to hit her open teammate
Makenna Walker-5'8 G (Platinum Basketball Bates) Princeton
Walker went completely off and let me throw this out at you, I rarely look at the roster because I'm always observing and go into games with an open mind yet Walker left me somewhat speechless last year by draining shots with another organization and this proves a player is a PLAYER no matter who she plays for so watching her attack and create contact, something I love to see and finish after the contact, something college coaches love to see yet they also love players that can shoot, she can, this includes "catch and shoot" from, well anywhere
[player_tooltip player_id="211872" first="Journey" last="Armstead"]-5'9 G (Team Tulsa 2022) Sand Springs
Armstead is another player I hadn't seen in years yet I knew what she was 3 or 4 years ago, I think my hair was all black but nevertheless, watching her attack the basket after creating her shot was a definite treat as well as seeing the floor and her athleticism simply was overwhelming on both ends as she played the passing lane as well as tightly defended which created numerous turnovers. On top of that, she shot the mid to long-range and got her teammates going well and just
2024
[player_tooltip player_id="158861" first="Kaelyn" last="Hamilton"]-5'8 G (NTX Elite Lady Elite 2024) Mc Kinney North
Hamilton is in the group is the age group I'm assigned to and her team just "grabbed me" because I was saying to myself "how did I miss them" yet after seeing [player_tooltip player_id="158877" first="Skye" last="Pepp"] explode off the dribble and defy gravity and [player_tooltip player_id="158867" first="Keyera" last="Roseby"] overpowers defenders. I said awe man, I know these players yet a year later, I see their progression and Hamilton just goes so hard on both ends, she punishes and finishes with contact, creating the mid to long-range as well as rebounding just had me smiling
