Jennifer Hartman-5’11 (Arkansas Select 2024)
Hartman creates her shot under pressure nicely and her midrange was definitely flowing and then it happened, she started dropping a barrage of long balls every time I looked up, and after I saw her hit 3 in a row, the rooster crowed and I moved in closer to make sure I wasn’t seeing things and as I got closer, she started dropping them deeper
A’Quarius Howard-5’6 (BCS Thunder-Ayers)
Howard has SWB like her teammate Mahalia Twine who made the PG list for 2024 but what I really saw from Howard was her pushing the ball and drop the stop and pop in transition which isn’t easy yet they fed off each other and also was the recipient of several passes from Twine in transition, where she could square up and knock it down. Her attacking the basket off the dribble in the halfcourt wasn’t bad either
Alyssa Batton-5’6 (Competitive Edge Elite)
Batton has the ability to take over offensively and the potential to do it at the drop of a dime, she dropped some dimes also but her shooting and the way she does it was nice. She reads defenses well and sets the defender up with a nice HEZ or even a step-back but she can also just drop the jumper after the “catch and shoot” which could turn into being major
Hayden Snodgrass Hayden Snodgrass 5'9" | CG Andover Central | 2024 State KS -5’8 (Kansas United 2024)
Snodgrass created her shot well and understood when and where to drop it from, that included anywhere she wanted from BTA as well as a variety of spots 12-15 feet away but she also could attack the basket just to keep the defender guessing
Kori Alcorn Kori Alcorn 5'8" | CG Rolla | 2024 State MO -5’8 (MO Phenom 15U Jackson)
Alcorn was one of many solid long ball shooters not only at the event or even in her 2024 class but within their organization. I made it a point to find out what her name was after she dropped three from close to 25 feet in a row yet she also showed she could knock down the shot with a hand in her face
Rian Forestier Rian Forestier 5'11" | SG Brandeis | 2024 State TX -5’10 (Players First 17U)
Forestier had a growth spurt, off and on the court because now she’s toying with that magic number the same way she toys with defenders. She’s long and elevates on her jumper and she releases it at the right time, it’s hard to handle, especially when she can create it under pressure and just shoot it over you but she also scored off the dribble
Kemyreul Wheaton Kemyreul Wheaton 5'9" | SF Madisonville | 2024 State TX -5’10 (BCS Thunder-King)
Wheaton keeps showing that potential that could make her a breakout star, she can play multiple positions well but that 2/3 slot is probably where she’s going to be most effective, and here’s why. She’s strong and can take defenders hard while finishing after contact but that same strength enables her to get her shot off under pressure and she knocks it down, from outside, also after contact
Via Johnson-5’8 (Shock 2024)
Johnson’s athleticism wowed me at first, she plays the passing lane and attacks strongly, and then she showed me she could do even more and watching her drop the long ball in transition, yeah the stop and pop, as well as in the set, and then the midrange so yeah, I get it
Leah Tegemejer-5’6 (Shock 2024)
Tegemejer is one of many throughout the organization that can score, mid to long-range, the coaches probably can shoot it she’s so smooth with it and when you have players that hit big shots under pressure throughout the game, that is something so I watched her wanting the ball in clutch situations, why did she want it, because she delivered with the mid to long
Jill Twiehaus-5’9 (Swift 2024)
Twiehaus is a growth spurt away from the magic number and like any other players, her form is just really nice to watch. She squares up and dares you to stop here and her mindset is probably “you can’t stop me” but I’ve watched her drop 8 or more three-pointers in multiple, not just games, but events, and she’ll only get better, again, that mindset
Christin Callins-5’10 (Swift 2024)
Callins pulled a switcharoo on me after seeing her play the passing lane and attack the rim for baskets, not to mention punish inside the paint, and then the switch flipped and she just started dropping shots from outside as if she was playing around the world and when she gets in her rhythm, she’s somewhat hard to contain so factor in her size as well as upside and oh my
Jordan Marshall-5’11 (Team Elite 2024)
Marshall handled the ball and saw the floor well, both under pressure but she also created her shot, very well, under that same pressure, and when you can knock down shots consistently with a hand in your face or on your body, that says a lot but her pull-up jumper was smooth and consistent
Kyla Herfkens Kyla Herfkens 5'9" | CG Emporia | 2024 State KS -5’9 (Wheat State Nicholson 2024)
Herkfens has plenty of stars and stripes in my notes so let me flag her right now starting with she rebounds well on both ends, even managed to score on putbacks against taller players yet she attacks the rim and scores, after contact and just elevates on her jumper to knock it down, this was also done in transition but she also falls into another category “she finds ways to put the ball in the basket”
