2023 Rankings: Stock Risers

One of the most talented classes in the state, the girls of 2023 are making the case of being the next best class. These dynamic young ladies have a little swag about themselves. They are tough, quick, agile, fierce, and some get in your face kind of girls. These kids love to perform and they do it with flair. The 2023 class is all about speed, scoring, and making a name for themselves. They may only have a few years under their belts, but you would think they were vets in the high school ranks. In this edition of stock risers, we take a closer look at some phenomenal young ladies who are tipping the scales in Tennessee. Across the state, 2023s are just flat out getting the job done. You have sharpshooters, dazzling passers, and some straight-up dogfighters. This class is one to keep your eyes on. Here are some notable 2023 ballplayers whose stocks will rise throughout their high school careers. Jaz is dynamic when it comes to having the ball in her hands. She anticipates well, jumping gaps that lead to transition buckets. She can slice through gaps to hit mid-range shots, dial it deep from 3, and finish at the cup with ease. Jaz plays the game with a high motor and has excellent court vision. She is a back-to-the-basket post who has a plethora of moves in her tool belt. She is great in the pick n’roll game and can finish through contact. She is a rebounder on both ends of the floor. She is a gym rat who just keeps getting better. She always seems to be adding things to her game. Emily can shoot the ball at a high clip from multiple levels. She can attack from the arc as well as display back-to-the-basket moves when playing smaller opponents. She is lethal offensively. Defensively, she has the ability to defend multiple positions, contribute on the boards, and pickpockets of opponents who think they can just blow by her. She’s a sharpshooter who won’t hesitate to pull it from anywhere on the court. She is a heady player with great size and feel for the game. Though people think of her only as a shooter, she can put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim. This year was her coming out party, where she received many accolades. She has a quick first step that allows her to get to the rim with ease. She has a nice mid-range game and the ability to hit teammates in transition with incredible passes. She is a lockdown defender who creates havoc by getting hands-on balls. Raven plays with a high motor. She can handle the ball well and has a great feel for the game. Emiyah has the ability to change speeds to gain ground at a moment’s notice. She shoots the ball at a high clip from multiple levels of the floor. She has great handles, which makes it easy for her to create space or slash to the hoop. She anticipates well and has great court vision. Her size provides her an advantage over smaller guards. Look for her to become one of the next dynamic kids to come out of the Clarksville area. She has great court vision and a high IQ. Lucy is deadly in the pick n’ roll game, where she can come off-screen looking to shoot. In transition, she can pull up with no problem at all. She has the playmaking ability to create space to get to the rim or knock down shots. Defensively, she anticipates well and can defend multiple positions. She is a lunch pail kind of girl who loves to work hard. [player_tooltip player_id="285339" first="Olivia" last="Hart"] (5’10/ PF-C/ Central Magnet)- A very smart and heady player who has a great feel for the game. She is athletic and runs the floor well. Olivia can shoot the ball from multiple spots on the floor, can bang down low, and is confident enough to attack the rim from the arc. She anticipates well on defense, where she jumps passes that lead to transition buckets. Ms. Hart is a grinder and can control the boards on both ends of the floor. She is a dynamic player who isn’t afraid to go toe to toe with some of the state’s best. Look for her to turn some heads as she continues to get better. [player_tooltip player_id="285346" first="Jeurnei" last="Wright"] (5’9/ CG/ Whitehaven)- Rangy combo guard who knows how to get to the lane. She is a playmaker who is athletic, quick, and tough. Jeurnei has the ability to create space to get to the rim. She possesses great size that allows her to defend multiple positions. Her length creates havoc that leads to easy transition buckets. Look for Jeurnei to have a monster summer ball season and turn some heads with her style of play. [player_tooltip player_id="245305" first="Peytyn" last="Oliver"] (5’4/ PG/ McMinn Co.)- Tough and fiery, this gritty player is a game-changer. She is a hustler who really leaves a mark on the game. Peytyn is a dynamic player all around. When the ball is in her hands, she can slice to the lane and finish, shoot the mid-range, or knock down the 3 ball. She has great court vision, where she finds open teammates and hits them on time. Defensively, she has quick hands that enable her to poke balls loose. She isn’t afraid of taking charges. This girl plays the game with passion.
