2023
Tyanna Simpson-5’9 SF (Kileen HS) Competitive Edge
Simpson has just done so many things, not only this season but from where she was last season, to impress me with her progression. She wants the ball on the inside when she posts up, yet she also battles for the ball off the rim, on both ends, and is finishing strongly on putbacks, as well as off the dribble when she attacks, both after contact yet she’s also showing a nice turnaround jumper to add to her offensive tools yet she still has upside and with her mindset, watch out

Alyssa Batton-5’6 SG (Hutto HS) Competitive Edge
Batton initials are AB yet I’m going to add the C because she is CLUTCH and when you are at this stage of your journey and wanting the ball in pressure situations and delivering just stand out but she has a nice jumper, she creates it under pressure and drops it from mid to long-range. She also handles the ball well and sees the floor making on the money passes for assists
Iyanna Billups-5’1 PG (Ellison HS) Competitive Edge
Billups is just one of those players that make things happen, on either end and her energy can also change the momentum because she has that first step to get by players, with ease and she shows the pull-up jumper or just attack and finish but her defense is smothering at times, she causes turnovers either getting steals or just on ball heat but add the fact that she does a good job seeing the floor and controlling the tempo
Noelani Ajel-5’5 SG (Steele HS) DC Queens SA
Ajel has always had the ability to maneuver and get the defender off balance, she’s doing it naturally and fluidly and with her stutter step as well as THE HEZ, she can get her shot off while being guarded tightly so watching her attack the rim and finish in both the 1 on 1 drill as well as the game situation didn’t surprise me, yet my biggest takeaway was her finishing stronger after the lick but her mid to long-range is also something you don’t want to dismiss because she can drop it quickly and efficiently
Emery Esponoza-5’4 PG (East Central HS) DC Queens SA
Espinoza came off the bench in a game to drop three long-range shots in a row, that definitely will open my eyes and I haven’t stopped watching yet. Hold on, she tricked me with a growth spurt, I was scratching my head until I saw the release yet the defenders were scratching their heads trying to guard her because she has a little shake as well as a crossover to get open, she drops the midrange too, but she attacks and dishes nicely and finishes strongly
