The home of the Blue Hose was the site of the latest team camp hosted by the school and its women’s basketball coach Alaura Sharp. Presbyterian utilized four courts – including one at the school’s primary arena at the Ross E. Templeton Physical Education Center.
We at Prep Girls Hoops were at Presbyterian and got a first hand look at a number of names that will be on the radars of Palmetto State basketball fans as their careers develop. Here are a few of those names.
Deja Godsun – 2024 – Hilton Head HS – Seahawks coach Russell Raniszewski remarked at the Presbyterian camp that it was one of the few times he had his full compliment of players this offseason due to plenty of them competing in other sports or travel commitments. Coach R has to be glad whenever Godsun is on the court in Hilton Head colors. Defensively, she is on many occasions a step ahead of whoever it is she is guarding as she can intercept passes. Godsun’s offensive game includes being able to shoot from long range and an ability to find pathways to the rim with plenty of speed and energy. She knows when to attack the basket and she knows when to pass.
Emilie Fister – 2024 – Hilton Head HS – The Seahawks’ Class of 2024 representatives turned in a strong showing at the Presbyterian camp this past Friday. She plays both the point guard and wing positions and knows how to get to the basket. For an opposing team to make a pass near Fister is a precarious proposition as there is a looming chance she will either deflect or intercept said pass. When she is not running point for the Seahawks on the basketball court, she could be trying her hand at lacrosse which she also has participated in while at Hilton Head.
Lynda Young Lynda Young 5'9" | PF Hilton Head Island | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Hilton Head HS – The 2020-21 rendition of Hilton Head girls basketball was young in more ways than one. With its freshman forward as one of its primary players and in the sense that it featured lots of freshmen and sophomores. Young still can run the floor as if she were a point guard while also playing time as a wing. She will run out to the perimeter to play defense to prevent 3-point shots. Young can grab rebounds and will absorb contact which will place her at the free throw line. She has displayed that she possesses lots of upside.
Keziyah Sanders Keziyah Sanders 5'4" | PG Sumter | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Sumter HS – It is almost a near guarantee that whenever Prep Girls Hoops is at an event where the Sumter Gamecocks are one of the teams in attendance that No. 2 is sure to be written about. Because Sanders is almost always certain to show up and show out. As someone who commonly runs point for coach Jeff Schaffer’s team, she knows how to make passes with precision along with that extending to her 3-point shot. Sanders will attack the basket with plenty of speed and there is a chance she may be fouled to put her at the line. That speed she possesses comes in handy both in basketball as well as with track and field.
Krislyn Wilder Krislyn Wilder 5'5" | CG Chapman | 2025 State SC -2025 – Chapman HS – She is one of the Panthers’ standouts that we at Prep Girls Hoops remember from the team camp at Wofford the previous week. Wilder will be entering her freshman season in 2021-22, but it will be her third already as part of the varsity team for coach Leslie Boyd’s Chapman squad. She attacks the rim, will shoot 3-point shots and also an put points on the board from mid range. Her ability to run point, dish the ball out and willingness to have the ball in her hands are among her valuable attributes that will play a big role for the Panthers this upcoming season. Following the graduation of Ke’Asia Anderson Ke’Asia Anderson 5'5" | PG Chapman | 2021 State SC , Wilder and teammate Clara Gramling Clara Gramling 5'6" | SG Chapman | 2023 State SC will be even bigger focal points for the Panther offense.
