The July eval period has concluded, we look around the state in volume 17 of the Florida round up to see what has been going on throughout the months of June and July.
2022 6’4 Forward / Center Kyla Abraham Kyla Abraham 6'5" | PF Smithfield (VA) | 2022 State FL (Miami Suns Team Fowles / Choctawhatchee HS) had a HUGE spring /summer going from 0 scholarship offers to picking up offers from Auburn, Baylor, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Houston, Miami, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, UCF, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. The 6’4 forward / center has a really impressive body. Her offensive skill set is under developed but she has tremendous upside and unlimited potential.
2026 Jim’Miyah Branton (Miami Suns Team Kiki) was one of the breakout stars of the summer. The slender guard was a scoring machine, helping her get a scholarship offer from St. Johns. The 7th grader was SLAM! Miami Academy leading scorer and has major potential.
2024 Beckham Hockley Beckham Hockley 5'7" | PG Sickles | 2024 State FL (Clearwater HS / FGB) did the Elite Camp circuit, making stops at Jacksonville State and Southern Miss. The combo guard followed up an impressive Freshman season at Clearwater with a solid spring/summer on the Under Armour circuit with FGB. She is a heady, high IQ combo guard who can score the basketball, makes good decisions, and is a high percentage shooter.
Miami Suns Team Fowles players 2023 D’Yanis Jimenez D’Yanis Jimenez 5'9" | PG Charlotte | 2023 State FL (Charlotte HS) and 2024 Kayla Nelms Kayla Nelms 6'1" | PF Miami Country Day | 2024 State FL (Miami Country Day) made a trip up to Gainesville for their elite camp. The underclassmen have picked up some interest from college coaches playing up in the 17U EYBL division.
2022 Sydney Shaw Sydney Shaw 5'9" | SG DME Academy | 2022 State FL (American Heritage Plantation / Miami Suns Team Fowles) made her way to Bloomington to visit the Indiana Hoosiers for an official visit after the conclusion of the EYBL Nike Nationals. The 5’8 guard was the Miami Suns Team Fowles leading scorer all summer and has been one of the state’s top prospects for several years. She previously visited St Johns in New York and is also considering Auburn and Mississippi State amongst other schools.
2025 Jaida Civil (East Coast United Family) made a trip down to Coral Gables for the University of Miami Elite Camp, picking up an offer from the Hurricanes. She was impressive on the July circuit, putting on display her high flying vertical and athleticism playing up in the 17U division with East Coast United.
2023 Tyra Kennedy Tyra Kennedy 5'6" | CG Brooks DeBartolo | 2023 State FL (Tampa Bay Tech / Miami Suns Team Fowles) made her way to the University of North Florida for an unofficial visit after the conclusion of the July evaluation period. The 5’9 guard showcased her 3-point shooting ability and solid all around game for the Miami Suns Team Fowles on the 17U EYBL circuit this spring/summer gaining the attention of a number of college programs.
2022 6’1 Forward Janiyah Jackson Janiyah Jackson 6'2" | C St Augustine | 2022 State FL (St. Augustine HS / East Coast United Family) was impressive this summer. The 6’1 Forward was a rebounding machine and picked up a scholarship offer from St. Leo after solid performances with East Coast United.
2022 6’2 Dyllan Hanna (Bartram Trail HS / East Coast United Family) was one of the new faces of the summer for me getting a chance to see her for the first time at the National Championships in Orlando July 23-25. Hanna showcased her length and athleticism to college coaches picking up interest from FAU, UNC-Greensboro, Georgia State, USF, Jacksonville, Memphis, George Mason, Mercer, UCF, St. Leo and Flagler.
2023 6’4 Yakiya Milton (Robert E Lee HS / East Coast United Family) had a big spring picking up an offer from the University of Miami at their elite camp. After performing well during the July evaluation period with ECU, she picked up offers from Southern Miss and FAU. The 6’4 wing/forward is an intriguing prospect who has a super high ceiling. Her length and athleticism is impressive and watching her put it to use on the perimeter is fun to watch as she puts everything together on the offensive end to go with her ability to be an impactful shot blocker, and rebounder.
2022 5’8 Guard Jazmine Jackson Jazmine Jackson 5'7" | PG Jackson HS | 2022 State FL (Andrew Jackson HS / East Coast United Family) played well on both sides of the basketball for ECU picking up offers from Charleston Southern and Jacksonville. Her high energy and defensive intensity was fun to watch and can see why she garnered interest from a number of college coaches.
