Our PGH Staff was at the Ohio Summer Showcase in full force on July 18th at the College of Wooster. We saw over 300 players compete in front of more than 60 college coaches. Here are some more of the 2024 standouts from the day full of action.
[player_tooltip player_id="217348" first="Aaliyah" last="Wirth"] - Class of 2024 - Triway
Wirth is a strong wing who has no problem scoring off of the dribble. She runs the floor hard and finishes through contact at a high level with both hands. Aaliyah showed flashes of 3-point potential, but certainly wants to sure up that jumper moving forward. A good defender - Wirth can guard 1-4 successfully.
[player_tooltip player_id="217341" first="Isabella" last="Callaway"] - Class of 2024 - Akron Hoban
Callaway was undoubtedly one of the best players in the morning session. A true PG - Isabella bounced around throughout her session, showing a complete game which includes pinpoint passing, a nice mid-range scoring package and on-ball pressure defense that every coach loves in their point guard.
Liberty Gerhart - Class of 2024 - Loudonville
It’s tough to find girls basketball players in today’s game that know that they are back to the basket post players. Liberty showed that she is comfortable on the block - going to drop-steps with both hands. She is a legitimate shot-blocker and even displayed a nice 1-dribble face-up game when forced off of her spots.
[player_tooltip player_id="280122" first="Alyssa" last="Geiser"] - Class of 2024 - Waynedale
Geiser has been highlighted a number of times on here - and rightfully so. The Waynedale standout is a highly-skilled sharpshooter who makes a litany of good decisions. She shoots a great percentage from the floor - scoring at all 3 levels, while also putting on a display an assist-to-turnover ratio that most coaches would take from their playmakers.
DC Lanier (pictured above) - Class of 2024 - Port Clinton
DC drew the attention of everyone in the building at the College of Wooster. The explosive combo-guard hunts buckets and has no problem getting shots up to the rim. She can score it off of the dribble and also has good range from well-beyond the 3-point line. DC creates turnovers with her ball-pressure, as well - often times leading to easy buckets for herself and her teammates in transition.
