Throughout the course of this month, I have been providing daily updates on players I’ve seen the previous day. Some articles will include strictly Indiana prospects, while others might include other Midwestern or National prospects. Below is a look at six final young ladies who I felt stood out with their play in the games I was able to see Sunday at the All-Iowa Attack Summer Finale in Des Moines, Iowa. This concludes my final event for the second “live” period of the Summer of 2021.
Harriet Aanestad, 2023, 5-8 SG, Bettendorf H.S. (IA)
Harriet showed off a feisty, tough-nosed, hard-working approach when I was able to see her yesterday. She has a wiry-strong frame, she’s a solid on-the-floor athlete in most directions, and she plays with an outstanding motor. She can handle it a little, but I think she’s more of an off-guard than a point or combo. She came up huge for her team, knocking down a couple of big 3-pointers when they needed them. She doesn’t need much space to get her shot off, and when you close out hard to her, she’ll go by and create or finish.

I saw Katie for the first time in early April, and she didn’t stand out right away. But the more I watched her, she is very patient, she doesn’t force the action, and she lets the game come to her. She is capable of pouring in points, and she does a nice job of finding those moments to take advantage of defenders. She is extremely long, wiry-strong, fluidly athletic, bouncy, and she has a nice burst to her. She can shoot/score it at all three levels, but she also does a nice job of finding open teammates. She just plays the “right” way.
Zoe Kennedy, 2023, 5-8 PG, Linn-Mar H.S. (IA)
I felt like Zoe really stood out to me with her play Sunday morning. She has a solid, athletic frame, she plays with a nice motor, and she’s skillful, but she’s deceptively quick/fast, and it’s that burst that helps her separate from defenders and put pressure on the opposing defense. She did a nice job with the ball in her hands, making good decisions, and finding open teammates. She also knocked down a couple of outside jumpers. But again, it was her ability to pick her spots and blow by defenders that caused the most chaos.

Sophie has used this July to step up her recruiting and get her name added to a number of colleges’ lists. She has an athletically strong frame, she’s a solid on-the-floor athlete in most directions, and she plays with a nice motor and some physicality on the wing. She is a good perimeter shooter, she has a nice one-dribble pull-up, but she can also attack the rim straight-line and finish around the basket. If she can get just a little quicker laterally and prove to defend smaller guards better, I think it could really help her.

Kendall is a big, strong, physical post player. She uses her body well to establish position on the block, both offensively and defensively. She has good hands down there, nice touch over either shoulder, and she runs hard in transition as well. At the same time, Kendall has a face-up game, and she can knock down the occasional 3-point shot from behind the arc. She could offer a lot of value at the next level if she can consistently prove to pick-and-pop and pick-and-roll both, adjusting to the defense.
Jenica Raine Lewis, 2026, 5-9 W, Summit Middle School (IA)
Jenica is an up-and-coming talent in the state of Iowa who is already making some noise in recruiting circles. She has an athletically strong frame, she moves well in all directions, she has some burst and bounce as well, plus she plays with a really nice motor. She can handle the ball and create offense, she can make shots at all three levels as well, and she can defend multiple positions. I’ve just seen her the one time yesterday, so I’m not ready to label her by a position, because she does so many things well. She’s just a talented ballplayer.
