Maryland’s Power Move showed up at Brandon Clay’s Elite 32 event in Buford, Georgia fresh off their competition at Adidas’ 3SSB events in Birmingham, Alabama to represent for the DMV. Mr. Clay drew teams from Florida, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, Alabama and Arkansas to compete in a two day event played on two courts. It was a very intimate setting with a full row of college coaches present for the games. Power Move 17U team is comprised of two 2022’s and a scrappy bunch of underclassmen. They also brought along their 15U team for the action as well. Both teams have some impressive talent on the roster and based on feedback the college coaches here are some the players who raised their profiles. [player_tooltip player_id="263993" first="Maya" last="Woodson"], 2023 Physical six foot power forward with a nose for the ball. If she doesn’t get it off the glass she will dive on the floor to retrieve it. Gives the team extra possessions with offensive glass work and will step out to shoot threes. Janiya Burton, 2022 5’9" guard/wing that is able to create space to get her shots off in traffic. Good wing defender with solid ball handling skills. She improved a lot from April and should be a solid contributor at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="303136" first="Erin" last="Miller"], 2025 At 6’3" and solidly built, Erin stands out naturally. She has knack for moving bodies around in the paint and has developed into a good post defender. Her offense is still emerging, but she did step out and knock down a three. With improved footwork and ball handling her stock will shoot through the roof. [player_tooltip player_id="263994" first="Maya" last="Mercadante"], 2023 Six foot wing with good length. She drained 5 of 6 three pointers in one game. Sara McShea, 2022 Sara turned in a monster 20 point 17 rebound game in which she showed versatility and toughness. At 5’11” she has good size and she was comfortable handling the ball in high pressure situations. She attacked the rim aggressively and dished off to open teammates. Solid all around player. [player_tooltip player_id="304357" first="Chaniya" last="Taylor"], 2024 Chaniya checks in right at six feet and has good length. She runs the floor well and is a solid rebounder. She is a good shot blocker and does not mind getting physical in the paint. offense consists mostly of put backs and layups at this point. [player_tooltip player_id="304620" first="Bree" last="Taylor"], 2024 Scrappy guard with a high motor. Very disruptive on defensive. She takes no plays off. Good speed and athleticism. Tamir Whittle, 2023 Point guard prospect that gradually improved throughout the summer as she transitioned to playing the position against high level competition. She has a good handle and a nice perimeter shot. If she gets stronger and develops her body she will be hard to control.
