Top Performers -Day 1 #PBRSuper64
Opening days are always good for me because it sets the tone on what’s coming and please believe me, much more is coming just from day 1, so let me start off with some Texas kids who stood out in front of me at the PBR Super 64
2022
Jacklen Molina-5’9 CG (HG Elite Jones) Grapevine HS
Molina has definitely escaped my radar, I don’t recall seeing her yet talent is definitely everywhere in Texas, and watching her create her shot and drop the jumper, yeah she could shoot it mid to long-range as well as take defenders off the dribble, but she also understands positioning and rebounded over taller players. She played the passing lane and came up with some steals with good hands and timing
Alayssia Crawford-5’5 CG (Texas Elite 3 Stripes) Lancaster HS
Crawford has also escaped any of my Tip Sheets which is why I stress rosters are very important but so is her explosiveness off the dribble as she zig-zagged past opponents in the open court for lay-ups with either hand, she also handles the ball well with either hand but her court vision was nice, zipped passes on the money, applies pressure on defense and played the passing lane quite well
2023
Grace Sims-5’7 PG ( DC Queens WTX 16U Orange) Panhandle HS
Sims pushes the ball hard yet under control and she sees the floor under pressure yet she also understands how to control the tempo, which is good and set her teammates up for easy baskets, this is better but her ability to not only attack and finish but attack and dish was an added bonus, yet she also could knock down shots from the outside, good upside
2024
Jada Graves-5’3 PG (GT4L) Amarillo HS
Graves definitely left a lasting first impression because of her SWB, speed with the ball, and being under control going a hunnid yet her ability to make passes on the money going full speed is not the only extra thing that jumped out at me, her ability to set the defender up with a very nice first step gave her numerous options because she has range and she can attack and finish in the set but her defense was also a plus and she has good upside
Addison Hite-5’7 SG (Texas Elite Pro Boost Leverton) Pilot Point HS
Hite did a good job creating her shot in the set as well as hitting it from the outside but I enjoyed passing her court a few times and watching her just take defenders off the dribble and finish strong, this includes after contact but when she dropped the “float” that did it for me
Kennedy Alexander-6’0 SF (Houston Skyrise 16U Gold) Channelview HS
Alexander is “long and athletic” and I call that the base, if this feels repetitive, it is because no matter how many times I say something, many just don’t get it but get this, college coaches love THAT as the base so what else does she bring to the table, how about she plays the passing lane, she handles the ball in the open court and she finishes strongly but she also plays the passing lane which leads to baskets going the other way. She blocks shots, rebounds, and defends very high ceiling
