#5| Elizabeth Seton
The Roadrunners are set to have a big year this season and their star center Hannah Dereje Hannah Dereje 6'3" | PF Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD will absolutely be a huge reason for the team’s success. She’s projected to average a double-double and her mid-range jumper is one of the most un-guardable shots of any type in the nation. Seton will also be starting Senior guard Regina Walton Regina Walton 5'2" | PG Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD who is one of the most gifted facilitators and scoring point guards in Maryland. Defense will be the ultimate key to long term success for Elizabeth Seton next year, but there’s no question that their firepower is already primed for a huge scoring year in the 21-22 season. Everyone in Maryland should watch out for the Roadrunners this season.
#4| New Hope Academy
Head Coach Sam Caldwell has really turned the New Hope Academy program around in the past few years, and he deserves a lot of credit for the incredible success of his program recently. New Hope point guard Kennedy Fauntleroy Kennedy Fauntleroy 5'8" | CG New Hope Academy | 2022 State MD has shined under coach Caldwell and whenever she touches the ball for this team good things happen. However, Fauntleroy is a strong two way player so she doesn’t always need to have the ball in her hands to make an impact. She defends well and also blocks a lot of shots which then lead to points in transition. New Hope has lots of talented young players such as Laila Reynolds and Madyson Burney Madyson Burney 5'9" | SG East River | 2023 FL who will all make a huge impact next season, and with Kennedy Fauntleroy Kennedy Fauntleroy 5'8" | CG New Hope Academy | 2022 State MD leading the charge nobody in Maryland is going to want to mess with the Tigers this upcoming season.
#3| McDonogh
McDonogh is riding an undefeated streak coming into this season and there’s no doubt that head coach Brad Rees has been reminding his players of this constantly and using it as fuel to get them ready. This means that McDonogh will be ready to play hard every game, as they’ll be chasing something greater than just a single game. Nekhu Mitchell Nekhu Mitchell 6'0" | SF McDonogh | 2022 State MD will take charge for the Eagles this season, and when her skillset is combined with those of sophomore guard Tatum Greene Tatum Greene 6'2" | SF St. John's College | 2024 State MD then there really is no stopping McDonogh on either ends of the floor this year. The team has many talented players but they also defend as a unit which will continue to be the key to their success going forward. The McDonogh Eagles can compete with anyone in Maryland and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they continue this unbeaten streak well into the 21-22 season.
#2| St. Frances Academy
The tandem of Daimoni and Kameryn Dorsey Kameryn Dorsey 5'7" | PG St. Frances Academy | 2023 State MD , the Dorsey Sisters, continues to be one of the most exciting tandems in the area during grassroots play for Team Lady Thrill, and the excitement will most certainly continue into the 21-22 season. The energy and leadership that these two players bring to their program is absolutely sublime and there’s no question that it will translate to W’s on the scoreboard this year. If they can get paint players like Dakieran Turner and Kaitlyn Weaver involved a lot on both ends of the court then St. Frances Academy has a great chance of going undefeated this season. The Panthers should be on everybody’s watch list as they’re coming after everyone in the entire DMV this upcoming season.
#1| Bishop McNamara
Overall, it’s going to be extremely tough for any team in Maryland to match up with the Bishop McNamara Mustangs during the 21-22 season. In the backcourt they have Yonta Vaughn Yonta Vaughn 5'7" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2022 State #68 Nation MD and Sahnya Jah Sahnya Jah 6'1" | SF Bishop McNamara | 2023 #50 Nation FL who’re two of the most talented and dynamic players in all of the DMV area. Junior guard/forward Qadence Samuels Qadence Samuels 6'2" | SF Bishop McNamara | 2023 State MD can handle the ball if necessary, but there truly won’t be a reason for her to do that which will open up her incredible post play and mid-range game. Madisen McDaniel Madisen McDaniel 5'9" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2024 State MD is another McNamara Mustang who’s a top player in her class and who consistently performs at an elite level. Bishop McNamara has the players and the team chemistry necessary to be the top team in the state this year, and with legendary head coach Franklin Oliver Jr. calling plays and giving speeches in the huddle it truly becomes apparent how great this team can be this year. Bishop McNamara is primed to have a very special season.
