Madisen missed the dance with an injury and the Mustangs missed her too. Could she have been the difference in a four point loss? Maybe, that we will never know and injuries are a sad part of this game. The McDonald’s All-American will recover and has bigger and brighter days ahead as she heads to South Carolina.

Madisen only jump one space but it was a huge jump to #1. The gap between 1 and 2 has been really close and we were waiting on a head to head to make any changes. This went down last week and with her dropping 16 points in a way that she has consistently done all season.

Madisen did against the Cadets what she does against pretty much everyone, she controlled the game without being controlling. She has a knack of knowing when to pick her spots to score and when to get her teammates involved. She had a game high 16 points and shot 66% from beyond the arc. She never seemed like she was forcing the action even with this game having a possible impact on the rankings.

Madisen McDaniel had another excellent performance for Bishop McNamara. Sacred Heart had momentum in this game in the second and third quarters, and Maddy McDaniel was one of the steadying factors for McNamara. She did great at driving and finding open shooters like Princess Moody, who had a nice game herself with her shot-making. She scored from all over the court and had a great game. She was named the player of the game and impressed again.

Madisen has a fan base behind her as she has been a favorite since elementary school. An immensely talented player with a good outside shot and great vision, she can control a game without taking a shot. She is starting to attack more which is creating more opportunities at the line for her. With the talent that BMac has will she be needed to be that player every game or can she take games off? This years player of the year award will have to be taken as it’s not a given.

Each game Madisen seems to cement her name more on the All-American lists. She’s getting to a point where she can do anything that she wants on the floor near flawlessly. When she shoots and you expect the ball to go in, when she drives you expect her to score or get to fouled. She probably can just call her number every possession and the Mustangs can still win games, however, her ability to see the floor and get others involved makes them a much better team that can potentially go undefeated.

Maddy showed a complete game at the point. She knocked down shots from all over and had some wiggles navigating in traffic. She is among the best in the nation at her position and it didn’t take long to realize that when she’s on her game she can cook anyone in the region. She was impressive on finishes contorting her body to get her shot off against the bigs and she was disruptive on defense.

Ron James the brilliant tactician takes over the Mustangs this season, the good news is he has inherited a championship level team with players that he’s coached for years. The bad is that he’s never coached in the WCAC. The good is he has

one of the top point guards in the country, however, he has at least four elite level point guards and one ball. Can he manage keeping the egos and chemistry intact while scheming to out fox Allen and Scribner? The Mustang parents will need to stay calm and let Ron work his magic.

Maddie had grew up as one of the smaller players which made her a natural for the position and gave her time to learn and grow in the position. In high school she had her growth spurt and everything just went next level overnight. She is one of the better shooters in the region and is a player that can’t be left open.

Madisen can turn a middle of the pack team into a national top ten with just her presence on the court. She makes players around her look better, makes the team better and make coaches look better. She can impact a game without scoring a point but can drop a 30 piece when she feels it’s needed.
