Legend has it, when it comes to Tennessee girls, there’s some good stock in their bones. Hard workers who play the game with poise and tenacity. These girls know how to put the ball in the hoop, defend, and play the game mixed with a little fundamentals and flare. There is a passion for the game that runs deep within their veins. A commitment. A certain kind of grit. There isn’t another class like the 2022 class, that embodies as much pageantry of the game like this one. Deep within the hills of Tennessee, the East side of the state is filled with girls who just love the game. It’s like they took a page out of the late great coach Pat Summit’s scouting book. Hustle and hard work will overcome talent every time. Their ability to compete and grind sets them apart from others. Here are some notable names from the PGH Tennessee Top 100 that reside on the east side of this great state. [player_tooltip player_id="285349" first="Jennifer" last="Sullivan"] (5’8/ CG/ Bearden)- The ladies of Tennessee Tech got a steal in this commit. She is a hard work who embraces the grit and grind. A multi-level scorer who can change the course of the game in an instant. With the ball in her hands, she has great court vision to distribute, attack gaps, and let it fly. [player_tooltip player_id="245216" first="Avery" last="Strickland"] (6’0/G/ Farragut)- The West Virginia commit is a tough ballplayer. She knows how to use her length to her advantage. Her ability to create mismatches on the offensive end gives her the opportunity to score it from anywhere on the floor. Defensively, she uses her size and speed to create havoc that leads to turnovers. She will truly be an Ace for years to come for the Lady Mountaineer program. [player_tooltip player_id="245235" first="Edie" last="Darby"] (5’6/ PG/ Greenfield)- The Ms. CP3. Edie is an incredible floor general. She is a pacesetter who knows how to run the team. From facilitating to scoring the rock, this young lady is a tremendous talent. She is a coach on the floor and a true team leader. [player_tooltip player_id="245221" first="Brooklyn" last="Crouch"] (5’8/ CG/ Upperman)- Lawd! This girl can play. She has an incredible motor on her that allows her to change speeds to get downhill. A multi-level scorer who can shoot it lights out. A great leader and an even better teammate, this hustler just knows how to go. She will be suiting up for the Lady Bees one last time before she takes her talent down to the southeastern part of the state for the Lady Mocs. [player_tooltip player_id="245220" first="McKenna" last="Hayes"] (5’8/CG/ East Hamilton)- Sharpshooting guard who hails from the southeast part of the state. McKenna knows how to put the ball in the hoop. The App. State commit is a dynamic talent who can score it. Blessed with speed and great hand-eye coordination, this girl is a lights-out shooter. Regan Trumm (5’8/CG/ Powell)- Catamount nation will be getting a true jewel from Tennessee. This young lady is tough on both ends of the floor. She has incredible ability to attack gaps going downhill or she can pull up and shoot it from either the mid-range or the arc. She is a scoring machine who will look to take home some new hardware her senior season. As the legend continues to grow, these are just a few of the girls who will continue to add to the story. There were girls who weren’t mentioned, yet their contributions won’t go unnoticed. This area is rich with history, hardworking young ladies looking to put their mark on the game of women’s basketball. Underneath the Hall of Fame shadow, the east side of the state is ready to introduce the next crop of young women who hail from this great state.
