Scouting Report: Orlando Basketball Club 2022 By Michael Wholey 8/30/21 1:00 PM EST The 2021 travel season has come to an end and we are looking back at some of the state’s top performing teams and breakdown their roster. This week it is the Orlando Basketball Club 2022 squad. [player_tooltip player_id="248874" first="Denise" last="Pearson"] 5’8 Wing (Seminole High School) Pearson is a crafty guard that can get to the rim with ease. She has a nice solid, strong frame who is a consistent shooter that knocks down a high percentage of shoots from a high percentage. She is looking to have a big final year for Seminole High School! Sarah Duque 5’6 Wing (Timber Creek High School) Duque is not the tallest guard in the gym but she plays bigger than her size. She is a streaky outside shooter that when she gets hot from the outside, watch out! She had a very good summer and was one of the top outside shooters this summer. She is a true gym rat, that lives in the gym! [player_tooltip player_id="220012" first="Camila" last="Zbynski"] 5’7 Point Guard (Colonial High School) Zbynski is a high IQ point guard that is extremely coachable. She handles the ball well vs pressure and does a good job not turning the ball over. She is shifty attacking the basket, doing a good job getting by her defender and into the paint. She attacked the basket well all summer, scoring at the rim and creating shots for her teammates by getting into the paint and drawing defenders. She can also knock it down from outside! Cristabelle Rosich 5’9 PF (Forest Lake Academy) Roshich is a 5’9 long wing / forward that runs the floor! She can hit the mid-range shot and uses her length well on both the offensive and defensive end. She plays hard and with a great attitude and is a great teammate. She is expected to have an impact for the Forest Lake Academy Panthers this coming season coming off a 9-5 record in the 2020-21 season. Catrina Visvalingham 5’7 Wing (Seminole High School) According to the coaching staff, Visvalingham is by far the most improved player on the Orlando Basketball Club 2022 roster. She displayed an ability to create her own shot off the dribble, finish well at the rim, and play in transition. She has a high basketball IQ and plays well in an up-tempo game. Sydney Ellis 6’0 PF (Freedom High School) Ellis is a 6’0 forward who is an excellent outside shooter. She played extremely well at the Orlando Splash event at the Orlando Convention Center in the back half of July displaying her versatility and length. She does a good job running the floor, is a solid offensive and defensive rebounder and plays with a high activity level. [player_tooltip player_id="248876" first="Adelyn" last="Richgels"] 6’0 PF (Lake Nona High School) Richgels runs the floor like a gazelle. She gets out in transition and scores easy baskets by her teammates advancing the ball forward to her for easy shots. She has a soft touch with solid outside shooting form that compliments her interior post play. She rebounds the ball with tenacity on both the offensive glass and defensive boards! She is a smart player who is like a coach on the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="248482" first="Khari" last="Santiago"] 5’4 SG (Seminole High School) Santiago shoots the ball well both from mid-range and from 3. When defenders take away her shot, she has the ability to penetrate to the basket and score at the rim. She has a strong physique with light feet and a quick first step. She is extremely aggressive on defense, who has a knack for being around the basketball and is quick to hop on a loose ball. [player_tooltip player_id="248878" first="Ariana" last="Romano"] 5’8 Wing (Timber Creek High School) Romano is the team’s top rebounder, who plays like a female Dennis Rodman! She gives her body up – consistently stepping into to take charges and dive on the floor for loose balls! She separates herself because she is willing to do all the little things that don’t show on the stat sheet. A glue kid, who has all the intangibles and sets the tone and energy for her team. Romano can also knock down the open shot from 3 when left open. [player_tooltip player_id="248879" first="Amanda" last="Straatmann"] 5’9 Wing (Freedom High School) Straatmann was the team’s vocal leader, setting the tone and the energy for her team consistently every game. Throughout the summer, she rallied her team to compete and play hard every possession. At 5’9 she has a strong, solid frame. She is a good rebounder from the perimeter position that boxes out well and knocks down the open 3! [player_tooltip player_id="219930" first="Brandee" last="Bennett-Clark"] 5’11 PF (Winter Springs High School) Bennett-Clark provided OBC a consistent interior presence throughout the summer. She uses her size, mass, and strength well in the paint and finishes well vs contact. She has soft hands and can knock it down from 15 feet. We will look to continue to cover news across the state. Our audience supplies us with some of our best information. Keep us updated on Florida news be emailing me at WholeyPrepHoops@gmail.com or DM’ing me through Twitter or Instagram @WholeyPrepHoops.
