PGH Roll Tide Rumble: 17U Backcourt Beasts from Day Two

While it helps to look ahead to the coming weekend – the first live period of the 2026 AAU schedule – it also helps to look back at the weekend that was.    That previous weekend was an active one for the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit as events took place in seven states. One of those states was Alabama with the Roll Tide Rumble emanating from Guntersville.    Games took place this past weekend at Supreme Courts, the Guntersville Recreation Center and Guntersville HS – whose Wildcats claimed 5A state glory this past season following its victory over Moody.    We at Prep Girls Hoops were also on hand for this past weekend's festivities. Without further ado, we spotlight a number of the veteran guards that made their presences known.     Playing up in class as a 2028 among 17U teams is only one of the many attributes that makes Reynolds an intriguing prospect. She was one of two team co-captains this past season for 2A Booker T. Washington. Defenses have to spend much time game planning for Reynolds considering she is likely to either connect on a floater or finish strong at the cup when she goes into attack mode. Defensively, she ensures to not leave much space between her and whoever she is guarding. Her high basketball IQ also allows her to see a play before it happens and make the correct reads in response.     Brown ensured that her Bars Elite 17U team would not depart from Guntersville sans a victory. Facing a winless weekend, the sharpshooting prowess of the standout 2028 from 2A Abbeville ensured it finished its Roll Tide Rumble Sunday with a victory over Truth Athletic Club 17U. Brown would connect on six of her 3-point attempts throughout Sunday's game – including three in the first six minutes of play. When someone has the hot hand from deep, it can make a defense believe she will try from distance every time she has the ball, giving her an advantage to throw said defense for a loop when she decides to attack the basket. During the season, she secured her first college offer which was courtesy of Coastal Alabama.     Throughout Andrulonis' athletic career, she has tried her hand not only at basketball but also flag football. Premier Girls Basketball ran its record to 3-0 in dominant fashion over Alabama Roadrunners Premier 17U Silver in large part because of a stellar performance from Andrulonis. She understands the art of turning defense into offense – one element of her game that makes her a consistent playmaker. When she has the ball in her hands, opposing defenses understand how much of a scoring threat she is, meaning she will attract a great deal of attention from said defenses. As a defender, she can match an opposing ball carrier step for step and move for move.     Duckworth fits the description of the multi-sport athlete. Throughout her career, she has also played softball to go alongside what does basketball-wise. YAG Ballers 17U was one of the tougher teams to contend with all weekend in Alabama in large part because of her play. Duckworth was part of a 2A Collins team that this past season finished with a record of 19-7. In a contest against [program_tooltip program_id='1803200' first='E.S.T' last='Lady Shiners'] 17U, she added to the team's offensive output with a seven-point performance. All seven of Duckworth's points in that Sunday matchup occurred in the first half of play. Duckworth also managed to steer mostly clear of the referee's whistle in that game as she was only called for one personal foul.     This past weekend, Lady Bombers 17U not only concluded Roll Tide Rumble weekend with an undefeated mark, but all four of its matchups were won by double digits. The Blue Devils of 6A Mortimer Jordan – which concluded its 2025-26 season with a record of 21-13 – are well-represented on Lady Bombers 17U – four Blue Devils are on the team. She was one of the team co-captains this past season and averaged 9.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per contest – testaments to her all-around playmaking capabilities. While Scottland can be effective from behind the 3-point line, she will also throw defenders off guard with her skills when she drives to the basket.     Roman is another from that Mortimer Jordan team that has regularly put together 20-win seasons the last several years. Defensively, teams have to game plan for her as she can be a consistent threat to come away with steals and create extra possessions for her team. They also have to prepare for her 3-point shooting abilities as she will have plenty of games where she connects on several of her tries from behind the 3-point line. Roman also does plenty of the little things that may not appear on a stat sheet but will go a long way towards getting a team in the win column such as hustling for 50-50 balls.     It was during last year's travel season where McShane's stellar play led to her first collegiate offer. She received it from the Mississippi University for Women. She has spent a great deal of her basketball career running on the travel circuit with YAG Ballers 17U and helped her team to a productive 3-1 Roll Tide Rumble weekend. Her playmaking capabilities will draw a great deal of attention from defenses and McShane effectively takes advantage of that to successfully locate her open teammates. Her school ball career has included a stint with Heritage Academy and her travel career included wearing the Fly Girls uniform.     The final contest for [program_tooltip program_id='713704' first='Alabama' last='Elite'] 17U involved it facing off against a YAG Ballers 17U assembling that was looking to conclude its Roll Tide Rumble weekend undefeated. Tillery's heroics ensured that would not happen as the Alabama-based club team earned the 47-34 win in the final contest of the weekend. Tillery's 3-point shooting accuracy was too much for the Mississippi-based assembling as she connected on four of her attempts from distance. While she thrives as a two guard, a team can also earn productive minutes from Tillery at the point. She was one of two juniors on last season's 5A East Limestone team that concluded its 2025-26 season with a record of 18-8.     [program_tooltip program_id='713704' first='Alabama' last='Elite'] 17U had a rocky start to its weekend by virtue of a loss to a tough [program_tooltip program_id='1214122' first='White' last='Tigers Elite'] 17U assembling out of Florida. Davis helped her team finish strong on Sunday as it defeated another tough out-of-state squad – Mississippi-based YAG Ballers 17U – by a final score of 47-39. Davis was part of the barrage of 3-pointers that were launched in that contest as she connected on a pair of her attempts from deep. She can set herself up behind the 3-point line but effectively plays at the wing and three well by attacking the rim. A midrange jump shot is also part of her offensive repertoire and her length can clog up an opposing team's passing lanes.
