2023 Standouts I-35 Showcase (Dallas)

I love seeing players in different settings, even at Individual Showcases because many times, you may miss some of the intangibles they bring to the table and in many instances, those intangibles are what separate players with similar skills so here were some of the players that stood out from the 2023 class <strong>Avery McConnell -5’8 G</strong> McConnell does quite a few things to create her shot, slight HEZ, deceptive first step, and also a good head fake but she also knocked shots down with a hand in her face. Her body language spoke volumes, she did a good job on the defensive end and I’m talking "on the ball" yet let me flip back to the offensive end where she did something in the open court that just grabbed me and that was spin on the defender to leave them cemented <strong>Allyssa Potter -5’5 G</strong> Potter may not be related to Harry but her shot was magical is what I tweeted yet let me amend that to say her GAME was magical and as I continue to misspell her name, I certainly have her game down so yeah she can create her shot, drop the jumper and attack off the dribble and finish strongly but that stop and pop in transition was very nice, so was her "catch and shoot" but handling the ball and seeing the floor, as well as her defense, were all solid as well <strong>Reagan Moilan- 5’4 G</strong> Moilan showed a little wizardry with the ball-handling it under pressure at times effortlessly while making good decisions on who to get the ball to and when to get it to them so seeing her control the tempo, either fast-paced or in the set was nice yet she’s heady, plays within herself and doesn’t force anything but she sort of showed me in the 1 on 1 drill what was coming as she went hard either attacking the basket or defending <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="135380" first="Caitlyn" last="Panuco"]- 5’8 G</strong> Panuco was a pleasant surprise I caught what seems like a lifetime ago yet she’s always played up and always shown she was one of, if not the best players on the court, much of that is because of her variety of ways to put the ball in the basket yet she scored multiple ways at the event but she also contributed a variety of other ways like showing she can run a team, well I already knew that, as well as drop the mid to long or aff balances drives <strong>Jillian Ortiz-6’0 PF</strong> Ortiz did a lot of stuff I love from days of yesteryear when the game was different, yeah I know, basketball is basketball, whatever, I love #THROWBACK stuff, especially on this side because that will help the masses impress college coaches and when she showed the "drop step" I dropped the clipboard because she did it smoothly and after contact yet she also has good hands and footwork, trust me that helps, scores off the dribble and rebounds
