Below are some of the stock risers from the ’23 class. [player_tooltip player_id="183924" first="Nina" last="Minicozzi"] - Rivers/MA Huskies - 5’9’’ - CG ’23 Rank: #5 After an insane July filled with monstrous scoring games, it was an easy decision to bump Minicozzi into the ’23 top 5. Her stellar play did not go unnoticed, as Dartmouth and NJIT both gave her an offer within the last few weeks. The other night I had the chance to watch Minicozzi at Rivers open gym, and I liked how well she pushed the tempo in the open court. Seeing her in an environment where she is the primary facilitator and where she can showcase her excellent court vision a little more, can elevate her into top 3 territory when the winter season concludes. When you look at the prospects in the top 5, Minicozzi is the best shooter and most efficient scorer. Therefore, when you add in her competitiveness, toughness, defensive intensity, and playmaking, she could make a huge statement over the next few months. [player_tooltip player_id="279087" first="Jamisen" last="Hill"] - St. Andrews/Lady Rivals - 5’11’’ - SG ’23 Rank: #29 With Hill now playing with the Lady Rivals, I think it can elevate her stock a lot this fall. Her game and skill set blend with the rest of the Rivals’ personnel perfectly. She is a ball hawk on defense. Her toughness, strength, and lateral quickness make Hill a matchup nightmare. She does a good job making the ball handler pick up their dribble and making them feel uncomfortable. Hill can help spread the floor and be a reliable kick-out option for the Rivals slashing guards. Hill can put the ball on the deck and score at the rim too. Her being left-handed and having good upper body strength makes her a tough player to keep in front. [player_tooltip player_id="183998" first="Alana" last="Scott"] - Bradford Christian Academy/Lady Rivals - 5’9’’ - CG ’23 Rank: #32 Scott is one of the best isolation players in ’23. Her ability to get a shot off against good defense is impressive. When the ball is in her hands, and she is one on one, I trust Scott to get the job done and score every single time. She has the shooting stroke from mid-long range, the quickness and strength to blow by the defense and get into the paint, and she is a creative finisher at the rim. During the Select Events New England Fall Showcase, I saw her consistently put points up on the board, and I think if she can continue to play with that same assertiveness and aggression on offense, she can be a lock for the top 20. [player_tooltip player_id="184024" first="Abby" last="Wager"] - Mansfield/NEX - 6’0’’ - SG ’23 Rank: #35 I believe Wager is one of the most underrated players in the class of ’23, and after watching her last weekend at the Select Events New England Fall Showcase, I can make an argument for her to be higher on this list. Her defense was outstanding, and she has developed into one of the better two-way players at her position. Wager is one of the best shot-blocking guards I have seen, and not only is she great at altering shot attempts, she does so without fouling. Wager is a disciplined defender who has the length and athleticism to stymie the player she is guarding. I also thought Wager did a good job getting to the basket. She is an excellent shooter. However, Wager didn’t solely rely on her jump shot; instead, she took advantage of her size mismatch on the wing and attacked. [player_tooltip player_id="313651" first="Hope" last="Nardone"] - Phillips Andover/MA Huskies - 5’11’’ - SG ’23 Rank: #78 Nardone has the size and the skill set to jump a handful of spots on this list. I like how she can spread the floor for her Huskies team that has many players who love to attack the paint. She has also shown the ability to score off the dribble. I remember back in July at the All-Academic Showcase, Nardone did a good job getting to her spots and rising up over a hard contest and scoring at will. As the fall progresses and Nardone starts to click more with her teammates, more of her game will flash, making her a player that should be on everyone’s radar over the next few months.
