Peira Alexander, 2024 Combo Guard (Orange Park) could have a special year for the Lady Raiders. Alexander is a very good 3 point shooter and loves to shoot in the big moments. Alexander also can put the ball can shoot the 3 and can also take it to the hole. Offensively she has the game and the confidence to go with it. She spent her Freshman year at Oakleaf observing [player_tooltip player_id="91651" first="Taliah" last="Scott"], [player_tooltip player_id="91660" first="Fantasia" last="James"], and Kayla Turner and that will pay huge dividends this year. Alexander will share the backcourt with fellow Sophomore Eris Lester and that combination could be something special to watch.
[player_tooltip player_id="248284" first="Maya" last="Richards"], 2024 SG (Ponte Vedra) was selected as defensive player of the year in 2020 and her selection was “spot on”. Richards is a special defensive player who has great lateral movement and has the ability to defend multiple positions on the court. Richards is lengthy and runs the court with great speed. She can fill the lanes on fast breaks and can also take it coast to coast. Offensively, Richards has a good midrange touch, a good three-point shot, and she can get to the basket. Her defensive skills, her versatility, and her ability to play at the three position on a guard-heavy Ponte Vedra team will allow her to stay on the floor when the game is on the line. Richards was recognized in a limited role in her Freshman year and look for more contributions in what promises to be a special Sophomore campaign.
[player_tooltip player_id="248291" first="Kennedy" last="Rosendahl"], 2024 SG (Ponte Vedra) is the player on your squad that you give the green light to. This upcoming season Rosendahl should have that "light." There are some good shooters on the First Coast and even in the 2024 class, but only a hand full can fill it up the way Rosendahl can. Rosendahl can score in flurries, and she has that ability to knock down shots instantly after possession changes. Rosendahl can also handle the ball and run the offense from the point guard position. She has great leadership skills and a high basketball IQ on the court. This is a Sophomore season that will likely be the "coming out party" on the First Coast for the sharpshooter Rosendahl.
[player_tooltip player_id="248287" first="Kiyana" last="Hunter"], 2024 Combo Guard (Mandarin) will be called upon this year to help fill the scoring void left by [player_tooltip player_id="204671" first="Jayla" last="Thompson"]. Hunter had the luxury of playing with a team full of ball handlers and experience, so last year she played on the wing and was encouraged to let the three-ball fly. Consequently, she finished 2nd on the team in threes behind Sam Freeland. This year Hunter will see more time at her natural point guard position where she can put her court vision and passing abilities on display. She was also effective on the defensive end last season, recording over 30 steals in her Freshman season. Hunter will share the backcourt with fellow Sophomore Nykeria Thompson and Senior guard Sara Robinson and that combination will give the Mustangs a formidable and versatile backcourt this upcoming season.
[player_tooltip player_id="248295" first="Claire" last="Coogan"] 2024, PG (Bishop Kenny) will play a big role in the success of Bishop Kenny this upcoming basketball season. Three D-1 players graduated and took their points with them. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id="247118" first="Sophia" last="Rueppell"] will take up a lot of the scoring void left behind, and [player_tooltip player_id="248295" first="Claire" last="Coogan"] should also help fill that scoring void. Coogan is gritty, scrappy, and a very good shooter from the outside. Coogan can also handle the ball and her ability to play the one or two position will provide a lot of offensive options for BK this upcoming season.
