This past weekend, Myrtle Beach was known for two oceans – the Atlantic and the vast ocean of talent that showed up to ball out at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo.
The Rhoades Myrtle Beach Sports Center was overflowing with talent for this past weekend’s event that featured lots of exciting basketball as well as an opportunity for many of the best players from the area to showcase their skills in front of college coaches.
And many of those young ballers displayed an attribute many a coach or scout loves to see – the ability to do the little things.

[player_tooltip player_id="197345" first="Kinady" last="Pierce"] – 2023 – Trinity Collegiate (Darlington) – Fierce is likely a word many would use to describe Pierce. Another that many would use is versatile as she will display her efficiency at playing both the guard and forward spots. And when playing as a three or four, rebounding can be as every bit as vital to a team’s success as scoring output. All-around athlete is probably something that can also describe Pierce as she has also participated in tennis as well as cheerleading. Pierce is a major reason why Trinity managed to make a deep playoff run last season to the SCISA Class 3A Semifinals.
[player_tooltip player_id="299564" first="Lexie" last="Ransom"] – 2024 – Seneca HS – Whenever her team is on the defensive side, Ransom looks poised and ready to make plays. She also has excelled in large steps as a passer where she finds open teammates. She will pass up opportunities to dish the rock out to a teammate that may be in better position to score. Ransom will also find herself open behind the arc in position to take and sink 3-point shots. Her speed also enables her to be quick with the ball and find her way past a slew of defenders en route to the basket. She is someone who runs the floor well and will get out in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id="331884" first="Q’nigue" last="Chambers"] – 2024 – Woodmont HS – Chambers made sure her passing talents were on full display at the PGH Top 250 Expo. She has proven to be someone who can do the little things and those can include making a slew of hustle plays particularly on defense. Chambers has no problem with getting the ball from an opposing player and making sure the possession goes in the other direction. She also has a knack for corralling in rebounds. Woodmont is coming off a season where the Wildcats clinched a 5A playoff berth and with players such as Chambers returning, a deeper run in the playoffs could be within Woodmont’s grasp.

[player_tooltip player_id="299565" first="Kah’Liyah" last="Geddis"] – 2024 – Woodland HS – Geddis’ playing style on both the offensive and defensive ends can be described as tough. Defending against the sophomore shooting guard can also be considered tough. If she has the ball in her hands, she is not afraid to go directly at a defender when driving to the basket and possibly drawing contact, which would put her at the free throw line. Geddis will take her compliment of shots from various places from the field. She plays with a great deal of energy and tenacity.
