The classes of 2024 and 2025 were well represented. Let’s take a look at some standout sophomores and freshmen from Sunday:
Ma'Riya Vincent | 2024 | 6’0” Small Forward | Klein Cain HS – Vincent possesses tremendous size and athleticism out on the wing. Her effort on the glass at both ends was outstanding, high-pointing the ball on defense like a wide receiver and always following her shot attempts on offense. The Klein Cain forward also displayed that she is a threat from behind the arc when spotting up and dangerous on dribble drives to the basket. Vincent’s ability to score from a variety of spots coupled with her motor will make her a problem at the next level.
Shunteria Anumele | 2024 | 5’9” Point Guard | St. Pius X HS – Anumele delivered some of the best-looking passes I saw all day. Her vision was exceptional, finding open teammates with regularity on Sunday. She was seeing the floor incredibly well and zipping bullet passes all over the place with accuracy. The sophomore floor general threaded the needle for assists on several occasions. You often see prospects become ball-dominant in these showcase environments, but Anumele managed to keep her entire team involved while still being able to get hers. As a scorer, she exhibited good body control when attacking the basket and the ability to finish through heavy contact, as well as a solid shooting stroke from deep.
Raniyah Lewis Raniyah Lewis 5'8" | CG Conroe | 2024 State TX | 2024 | 5’9” Shooting Guard | Oak Ridge HS – Lewis was another guard who impressed me with her court vision and passing. The Oak Ridge sophomore was decisive as a distributor, exploiting miscommunication and blown assignments by defenses with accurate and well-timed passes that resulted in assists more often than not. She was terrific in transition both as a scorer and playmaker, recognizing when to dish it to a teammate and when to take it herself. Lewis played within the flow of the offense, but she looked good in one-on-one isolation opportunities too.
Mila Rossini Mila Rossini 5'7" The Village School | 2024 State TX | 2024 | 5’5” Shooting Guard | St. Pius X HS – Rossini has a nose for the basketball. She is one of those players who is always in the middle of the action looking for ways to leave her mark on games. Despite having some shooting struggles early on, she didn’t let that shake her and continued to play hard, contributing with her passing, rebounding, off-ball movement, defense, and overall hustle. The St. Pius X guard outrebounded taller opponents and wasn’t afraid to go right at them on offense, finishing through contact and converting three-point plays the hard way. Rossini simply makes winning plays.
Jerriyah Baines Jerriyah Baines 5'10" | SF Killeen | 2025 State TX | 2025 | 5’10” Combo Guard | Killeen Ellison HS – Baines was fearless when it came to attacking the basket, relentlessly putting her head down and knifing through defenses. She showed the ability to split double teams and explode to the basket where she finished with physicality, finesse, or craftiness depending on the situation. Her three-point shooting was fantastic as well, heating up from behind the arc in her final two matchups of the event. The freshman guard also showed up at the other end by defending multiple positions and emphatically turning back shots. This is an already talented first-year player with huge two-way upside.
Bella Edwards Bella Edwards 5'9" Lubbock Titans | 2025 TX | 2025 | 5’9” Shooting Guard | Homeschool – Edwards has a long and wiry frame and was slippery when driving to the basket, slithering through traffic and finishing with a soft touch from close-range. She handled the ball well vs. pressure in the half court and in transition. All that said, it was her three-point shooting that caught my eye. She possesses good mechanics on her jumper, always getting her legs into her shots and releasing them in rhythm. The freshman guard can make threes off the bounce, but was particularly good when firing from the catch.
Sydnie Villarreal Sydnie Villarreal 5'6" | CG St. Agnes Academy | 2025 State TX | 2025 | 5’6” Combo Guard | St. Agnes Academy – Villarreal continuously found ways to impact games at both ends. The 2025 guard was a selfless teammate who threw the ball ahead in transition to get her team better looks, always willing to make the extra pass and turning good looks into great looks. She was scrappy and hard-working whenever she stepped on the court, consistently mixing it up as a rebounder despite being at a height disadvantage. Beyond that, Villarreal displayed the ability to knock down jumpers from mid to long-range when spotting up. She is a tough-nosed prospect and the type of player that others want to play alongside.
