Close your eyes. Take a moment to envision being alone in a gym. It’s just you. The bouncing of a basketball. The hissing noise of the lights. The swoosh of the net. The sweat rolling down your face. The screeching noise of your sneakers. Your deep breaths. You see yourself working on this move, that move, counter this, counter that, fade this way, fade that way, up and under, and score! Open your eyes. It’s game time. Countless hours have been put in the gym by kids across the state. Scenes like above, are the norm within these borders. Tennessee girls have the heart and the will to go out and fight for victory. The little things, the details, the ability to rise up and compete day in and day out. Kids have overcome adversity just to put on the jersey and compete another day. The names listed above aren’t just about the rankings, but kids who have that sustenance to rise up because one day they will be playing collegiate basketball someday. So this stock riser report isn’t about just rising up the ranks, it’s about loading up stock in that profile because one day your dream of college hooping will come true. Here are some notable girls from the class of 2023 rankings. [player_tooltip player_id="245304" first="Abigail" last="Johnson"] (6’0/C/ Upperman)- A staple for her team, Abigail is a force to be reckoned with. Offensively, she is incredible in the post-up game. Nice footwork. Great moves. Strong. Finishes against contact. She has a nice mid-range game that compliments her low-post presence. The painted area is her domain. Defensively, she is a board collector and understands the importance of being a defensive presence. She can and will block shots. She walls up great. Down low is her area no one else is welcomed. Look for her to help lead her Lady Bees team back to state contention. [player_tooltip player_id="245326" first="Makenzie" last="Bremer"] (5’8/ SG/ Alcoa)- Talented kid who can do it all for her club. From driving to the hoop, to shooting the mid-range, to spotting up and knocking it down from the arc, Mak is an offensive threat no matter where she is on the court. Dynamic facilitator, who is such a heady player. On the defensive end, she is scrappy and competes no matter who she is guarding. She does the little things that create extra opportunities for her ball club. Great kid with tremendous upside. [player_tooltip player_id="245313" first="Jordan" last="Gillies"] (5’11/ CG/ Cookeville)- Hardworking kid who loves the game of basketball. Blessed with height, JG can play inside and out. But out, is more of who she is because she can shoot from beyond the arc, slash through lanes, and shoot the mid-range bucket. What I mean by in, she will take advantage of her height against smaller opponents and go inside. Jordan is a team player who can facilitate in transition. She has great handles and awesome court vision, that enables her to attack any time. Defensively, she contributes on the boards and uses her length to create turnovers and deflections. [player_tooltip player_id="421980" first="Atiya" last="Moss"] (5’9/ CG/ Clarksville Academy)- Poise. Command. Two words that describe a couple of attributes to her game. Atiya is a combo guard who can score the rock. She isn’t selfish but can get a bucket when she wants to. She is a multi-level scorer who can shoot the ball in transition or coming off screens. Defensively, she can mix it up and get steals, leading to transition buckets. The poise comes in because she knows when to attack and when to not. The command, she is a leader of her team and will be a catalyst towards helping her team to victory. [player_tooltip player_id="285387" first="Emaleigh" last="Tarpley"] (5’10/ PF/ Rockvale)- Fiery ballplayer, who is just now coming into her own. A scrappy kid with length, Tarpley is a gym rat that loves the game. She plays with heart, passion, and is very selfless. Offensively, she is great in the 2 man game, can step back and shoot the three, and is effective from the mid-range area. Defensively, she has the ability to block shots, grab boards to start breaks, and has a nose to when to take charges. Great young ballplayer who will continue to grow. [player_tooltip player_id="245315" first="Autumn" last="Davis"] ( 5’4/ PG/ MTCS)- High motor kid who is like Chris Paul. Autumn is a coach’s dream as she can get you into any offense or start transition breaks. She has that “Go” factor and amazing court vision. Offensively, she can shoot from beyond the arc, but her game is the mid-range area and attacking the hoop. Defensively, she is going to lock you down the length of the floor. Her ability to adapt and adjust is crazy. With heart and determination, AD is a kid who puts her team over herself all the time. [player_tooltip player_id="285338" first="Chloe" last="Gannon"] (6’1/ C/ Coffee County)- Hard-working post player who plays the game with heart. Chloe has a great low post presence, where the painted area is hers. From scoring inside to getting put-backs, Chloe is a threat down low. She has great upper body strength that allows her to muscle through opponents to get to the rim. Defensively, she is a shot blocker who collects boards. [player_tooltip player_id="285361" first="Trinity" last="Fields"] (5’3/ PG/ Brentwood Academy)- High motor kid who can get to the rim. She has great ball-handling skills and along with great court vision. Her ability to facilitate and dictate the pace of the game is very impressive. She has a nice mid-range game and is a lockdown defender. Trinity is a fearless ballplayer who will do the little things to help her team win. [player_tooltip player_id="285347" first="Sophie" last="Singleton"] (5’11/PF/ Huntingdon)- Lunch pail kind of girl, she is a force down low. A walking-double-double in points and rebounds, Sophie has great footwork in the painted area. She can play with her back to the basket or face-up, has a nice mid-range game, and will step outside for the occasional three. She is a beast on the boards as she collects anything that comes off the rim. A great kid with an exciting future. [player_tooltip player_id="245298" first="Sloan" last="Carpenter"] (5’5/ CG/ Bradley Central)- Solid player, who is fundamentally sound. Has the ability to get to the rim and finish with contact. Sloan can shoot the ball. She has a nice mid-range game that compliments her ability to shoot it from deep. Coming off picks or even pulling up, she doesn’t hesitate to unleash it. Defensively, she anticipates well and can create turnovers by either poking balls from behind, jumping passing lanes, and using her quick hands to swipe balls. [player_tooltip player_id="285350" first="Nevaeh" last="Scott"] (5’7/ SG/ Bartlett)- Confidence. Bold. Ms. Scott plays the game of basketball with her heart on her sleeves. She has incredible foot speed that enables her to be in the right place at the right time. Offensively, she can shoot the ball in transition with so much confidence. She is a multi-level scorer who isn’t afraid of contact. Defensively, she is a heady player who can get hands-on balls which leads to turnover buckets.
