2022 Rankings Update: Taking A Look At The Guards

The state of Alabama has just got started and the 2022 class is what we will get started with. What a loaded class and specifically the guards! Some of these players you may recognize, while others have been under the radar but yet efficient players. Here, we take a look at some of the top guards. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="318425" first="Kelsey" last="Thompson"] | Davidson</strong> Thompson is one of those guards you should have heard about, but if not let me tell you a little something.  She is a solid, strong, big guard that is hard to defend. Kelsey gets to the rim with ease, has great handles, and can shoot it. Kelsey has committed to stay home and play for South Alabama in her hometown of Mobile. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="318430" first="Madilyn" last="Krieger"] | Rogers</strong> Maddie as she is called by many is one of the purest shooters in our state.  She is a headache for defenders because if she is coming off a screen it is automatic. Also, Maddie is a great on-the-ball defender, which is mostly the reason for her being a two-time state champ, 4A State Finals MVP as well as a two-time Player of the Year finalist. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="318418" first="Molly" last="Heard"] | Pisagh</strong> Molly is a four-time state champ, state finals MVP, and Player of the Year. Molly is a workhorse on the floor and loves the game.  She can shoot, rebound, and be a good ball-handler. Molly has been groomed since 8th grade to be the leader of this program that she is now.  Looking forward to this upcoming season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="319555" first="Chloe" last="Johnson"] | Montgomery Academy</strong> Chloe has an extremely high basketball IQ, she will distribute the ball but can and will shoot the 3-ball with perfection.  Chloe was a member of this summer North-South roster, last year was player of the year for the AISA, and this year she was 1st team in the 3A. She is that combo guard that gets it done. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="320515" first="Jasmyn" last="Burts"] | Glenwood Academy</strong> Jasmyn is a baller, she plays hard, will get the ball to the basket, and score even if it involves some contact. She was 1st team in the AISA division this year and helped her team with the state championship in that division. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="319543" first="Bellah" last="Machen"] | Mortimer Jordan</strong> Remember this name. Bellah is one of the best set shooters in the state, and she hustles on defense. She was instrumental in Mortimer Jordan going deep into post-season last year. Look for her to be the engine for this team in the upcoming season.
