Shayla showed the ability to attack going left or right. She is skilled enough to play on many varsity team as she is physical enough to finish with contact.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="387239" first="Aniya" last="Tillery"] - 5’7" - Point Guard - Coppin Academy - 2022</strong>
<a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/10/DSC_0096-scaled-crop-2048x1345-1633873346.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-338275" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/10/DSC_0096-scaled-crop-2048x1345-1633873346-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>
Aniya played well in a losing effort. Late in the game she spent a lot of time going one on one against Garnett. She worked the step back well when doubled and was able at time to fight through the traps and continue to the basket.
In game two New Hope brought their freshman team out to match up against a Baltimore Select team, a mixture of players comprised mainly of Team Melo 2024 players. In the end the Tigers were the victor.
<strong>Standouts:</strong>
<strong>Courtney Smith - 5’4" Point Guard - New Hope - 2026</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-338267" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/10/DSC_0164-scaled-crop-2048x1345-1633872747-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" />
Courtney was impressive for an 8th grader playing against varsity players. She got out and ran the court with confidence getting out in front of the play multiple times for wide open layups. She was very effective running the offense.
<strong>Robyn Carpenter - 5’7" - Wing - New Hope - 2026</strong>
Robyn had a knack for finding the open spot and knocking down a timely three every time the Baltimore team began to make a run. She has a soft touch from the field.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="393082" first="Arianna" last="Harris"] - 6’3" - Post - Bethel Christian Academy - 2024</strong>
<a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/10/DSC_0139-1-scaled-crop-2048x1345-1633873156.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-338271" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/10/DSC_0139-1-scaled-crop-2048x1345-1633873156-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>
Arianna had good timing, along with her length makes her an effective shot blocker. She’s a lefty that can use the hook shot over the shoulder in the paint to finish. She also was able to connect attacking the basket from the high post.
<strong>Howard</strong> came away with an impressive 60-52 victory over <strong>Western</strong> in one of the most exciting games of the day. A lot of talent on both teams as each would be considered contenders for a state championship. Howard came in with a line up of three players 6’2" or better while the Doves boasted a pair of top 20 ranked seniors.
<strong>Standouts (Howard):</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="163864" first="Gabrielle" last="Kennerly"] - 5’10" - Wing - Howard -2023</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-338265" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/10/DSC_0205-300x199.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" />
Gabby was the most versitile player in the gym. She has the skill and size the play any position on the floor. A lot of the game she started the offense out at the point, however, she was off the ball and even at the post at times. She was effective in each position.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="324014" first="Gabby" last="Scott"] - 6’3" - Post/Wing - Howard - 2022</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-338264" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/10/DSC_0198-300x199.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" />
The Towson commit was good inside with the rebound putback.and showed a nice for on her shot with accuracy knocking down a couple of three pointers during the course of the game.
<strong>Grace Henderson - 6’3" - Post - Howard - 2024</strong>
Grace has good size and nice length inside. She has an interesting form on her shot but it seems to be accurate when she gets her feet set. Plays with a lot of energy
