Class of 2025: Post Players Of The Future
In this article:
This is our first look at the Class of 2025’s Post Players. Because some of them have played limited time on their high school squad as they lead into their freshman seasons, the biggest time to notice is the size within this class. Some have already made an early impact, and the others are for us to watch them and remember their names.
Barclay Brown Barclay Brown 5'10" | C Vestavia Hills | 2025 AL | 5-10 | C | Vestavia Hills
Barclay is a tall, long, and fast young post player. She is also a good 3 point shooter that can drive and finish at the rim. Barclay comes from a middle school program that went undefeated in their 2-year stint. Defending on the perimeter with quickness and the post with her length will only improve greatly once she gains confidence with more experience.
Layla Cannon Layla Cannon 6'1" | SF Hoover HS | 2025 State AL | 5-11 | F | Hoover
Layla showed Hoover Head Coach Krystle Johnson some promising upside during summer play and was quickly moved up to the varsity squad afterward. Her slender body and huge wing spam will be giving many opponents a headache. I’ve been told she is already hitting the backboard. Layla has a nice shot from the wing and will gain the needed strength as she ages.
Teralyn Hill Teralyn Hill 5'11" | SF Parker | 2025 State AL | 6-0 F | Parker
Teralyn did play varsity as an eighth-grader due to COVID and the City of Birmingham shutting down their middle school basketball programs. She has a long and lean stature that can block many shots and is very efficient with putbacks. Teralyn has been working on her face-up game over the summer and can’t wait to show off what she has added to her game. She will be one of the best post players to come out of Birmingham City School systems in a while.
Jordan Madsen Jordan Madsen 5'10" | C Vestavia Hills | 2025 AL | 5-10 P | Vestavia Hills
Jordan is the product of a dad that played basketball in the state of Iowa, one of the basketball capital of this nation, and she definitely inherited his size. She has a high IQ as a post player that defends the rim & rebounds. Jordan plays with her back to the basket and can finish equally well with her right or left hand. Good ball-handling skills for her size and the ability to score from mid-range & from behind the arc.
Ella Serotsky Ella Serotsky 6'2" | C Homewood | 2025 AL | 6-2 P | Homewood
At 6-2, Ella is one of the tallest eighth-graders in this state. This is a true center that is very athletic that can run the floor and finish at the rim. Excellent shot blocker that protects the rim really well. She will battle for all rebounds and has the IQ to know what to do with the ball once in her possession.
Molly Shaver Molly Shaver 6'0" | C Briarwood | 2025 AL | 6-0 C | Briarwood
Molly is the sister of one of the leading big men in the state; North Carolina-commit Will Shaver. Molly’s future will be bright even if she is a little bit of what her brother is. With that 6-foot frame as a 9th grade, she is dominant in the paint and rebounds well. Molly will grow as her varsity season progresses.
Jaliyah Smith Jaliyah Smith 5'10" | PF Bob Jones | 2025 State AL | 5-10 P | Sparkman
Jailyah is already catching her new head coach’s attention, with outstanding mature on the court for her age. She already has the guard skills and the height, which gives her an advantage. With her height and skills, Jaliyah can make it hard for defenses. She is also strong in the paint and will take that rebound back up for a basket.
Haley Trotter Haley Trotter 5'11" | PF Chelsea | 2025 State AL | 5-10 PF | Chelsea
Hailey is a physical and athletic player that is a tough defender. She is very active in the post with the ability to rebound. Hailey can also score inside as well as take that mid-range shot. Her athleticism gives her the ability to run the floor. All of these attributes will make her a dominant post as she continues to grow.
