Continue ReadingI want to give a special S/O to ’23 D’Anni Bradley (Legacy School of Sport Sciences) and ’25 Shaylee Lane (Splendora HS) for also attending the event and stepping it up. Bradley was simply dominant during the 1 on 1 drill and here being “long and athletic” allowed her to keep it going into the games as she attacked from everywhere for baskets as well as showed the jumper. Lane’s energy just blew me away as she is one of those “never takes a playoff” type of players and she helped create turnovers galore as well as added some offensive firepower but here ya go, all are 2027’s unless listed otherwise
Aliyah Woodard (Thornton MS)
Woodard has a knack for getting wherever she wants and dropping the jumper yet she also has a very nice first step which allows her to get by the defender to score, after contact included yet her mid to long-range and quick release is ahead of her years
Hannah Williams (Pearland JH West)
Williams understands something very important at her age and that’s positioning, on either end. She boxes out nicely to rebound, on both ends and she finishes after contact, putbacks included and when you factor in she also “runs the floor” which spoke volumes to me
Nilah Esparza (Ray D Corbett JH)
Esparza did a good job of recognizing when the trap was coming and avoiding it but attribute that to being not only heady but good at handling the ball yet her ability to thread the needle on the money was equally as important
Mackenzie Teuton (James Bowie MS)
Teuton will be one of the top PG’s in her Texas class, I’ve already dropped the mic after watching her drop dimes in a variety of settings, and when I say something, it happens but she can also mix it up to score from mid to long-range as well as by attacking but that ability to run a team is just …
Tess Stephenson (Memorial MS)
Stephenson is “long and athletic” and understands how to put the ball in the basket in numerous ways. Off the dribble, yeah she can score with either hand and as far as her creating her jumper, that’s a plus especially when she has the “stop and pop” in transition
Kamdyn Flora (Hamilton MS)
Flora was tagged #D1Lock by me last year, throw away the key because her poise, her BB-IQ, as well as her desire to get, better keeps elevating her game, not to leave out her ability to not only shoot but “catch and shoot” is taking off, sort of like her attacking the rim with the first step using good body control to finish
Sydney Marshall (The Kinkaid School)
Marshall just overpowers defenders around the basket and with her strength, she’s an “and one” waiting to happen so she also a force at rebounding on both ends, throws a nice outlet, and runs the floor to finish after starting it but she also can score from the wing and drop the midrange, not to leave out she defends well
Rachel Roberts (McCullough JH)
Roberts is “long and athletic” and can score off the dribble with either hand yet you may not want to back off of her when she attacks a few times because she can drop the mid to very long range with the blink of an eye. Her upside is scary, especially with range like that now
Bailey Burns (Oak Hill JH)
Burns keeps adding to her game and watching her handle the ball under pressure was nice as she maneuvered with the HEZ as well as behind the back in the open court but she wants it, you can see it in her face and with the mindset she has, to go along with the range, she’s going to keep bringing it so be ready because she will be
Honorable Mention
Sophia Rousse (St. Laurence)
Kamryn Moran (Angleton JH)
Riley O’ Connor (Memorial MS)
Amanda Rossini (Hogg MS) 2028
Kymiryn Hall (Leon Sablatura MS)
