Best freshman in the Georgia Top 250 Expo? Here are our 2025 All-Expo teams.
First Team
[player_tooltip player_id="334522" first="Mia" last="James"] | 5’4 | PG | Mt. Vernon
Very confident hooper at the PG spot, she is very quick in transition. It may be surprising to many, but she was likely the quickest player in the half-court and the fastest in transition. That’s not an accomplishment to overlook from a freshman. She has a great command of the dribble all ready and really does a great job of selling her moves using her body. She works her jab well to shift players to a side and then blows by with her first step. Her footwork is impressive as well and she used it to create separation for her jump shot on multiple occasions. She was able to get to the rim virtually from anywhere on the court. A small guard that brings all the confidence in the world to the court. With the success of small guards in this past year’s Women’s NCAA Tournament, there will likely be several schools that request her services at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="335905" first="Kitali" last="Youmans"] | 5’7 | PG | Mt. Paran
Kitali looked very good at the event. She has a natural feel for the game. She has advanced ball-handling and could get by any defender using initial moves and good selections when choosing her counters. Even when defenders were able to stay on her hip she showed that she could convert on some very tough scoring attempts. Even as one of the youngest players at camp, it’s clear that she is the type of PG that you can lean on as a coach. Between her on-ball defense and her playmaking ability, she will find a way to get it done.
[player_tooltip player_id="335908" first="Nariah" last="Nelson"] | 5’10 | W/F | Artios
Nariah is on pace to pick up plenty of accolades through her high school career. 1000+ points and 1000+ rebounds are not hard to envision when watching her play. She brings some versatility to the floor on both ends. She defended some of the quicker guards effectively at points during the event. I believe when looking at her she’s more likely projected as forward but she has some skill and mobility that is going to catch a lot of people off guard. She was good around the rim and rebounded well in traffic. She showed great awareness on a couple of plays taking the ball all the way to the rim even using the handle to weave through a defender or two. With her size and skill, she’ll have a significant role on her team in year one.
[player_tooltip player_id="335909" first="Jah’Naesia" last="Spiers"] | 6’0 | F | Arabia Mountain
Jah’Naesia did a lot of things well during the event. Two things that jumped out to me were her defensive instincts and her understanding of spacing from the forward position. She positioned herself to effectively defend on the block and showed her long arms against driving guards to make them settle for mid-range jumpers or make passes out of the painted area. She relocated on every pass to make sure guards had options to create while also making herself available for passes for her own scoring opportunities. She has very good hands and is a good scorer around the rim but showed some shot-making ability inside the perimeter and will likely develop as a threat from deep as well. She’s confident initiating the break and made some nice passes in transition after good reads.
[player_tooltip player_id="285230" first="Amilya" last="Taft"] | 6’3 | C | Creekview
Amilya brings a lot of length to the post position and good vision as well. She reads defenses quickly in the painted area and consistently picked apart the defense finding cutting guards and post alike when defenders fell asleep. She easily rebound over smaller players and did well keeping the ball high to get good looks for her offensive putbacks. She can play out of high low actions and made a nice drive or two from the elbows but showed IQ when deciding to try to score it or pass it to open teammates once the defense shrunk. Has all the length needed to consistently affect the shots of the more dominant post during the event.
