<strong>Impact Transfers For Florida’s Top Teams</strong>

<em>The start to the 2021-22 high school season is just under a month away. Players transferring have been much of the storyline for the last six months as many of the state’s top players have been on the move. We take a look at who are the state’s most impactful transfers. </em>

Prep Girls Hoops Florida # 1 ranked player <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91554" first="Janiah" last="Barker"]</strong> (formerly at Tampa Bay Tech) and # 8 ranked player and Texas signee <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91559" first="Jordana" last="Codio"]</strong> (formerly at American Heritage Plantation) have enrolled at Montverde Academy) along with 5’10 2023 Guard / Wing <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="245281" first="Cori" last="Allen"]</strong>, who comes to Montverde Academy from Tennessee and is one of the top 50 players nationally in the 2023 class. Barker, Codio, and Allen join a Montverde Academy that was ranked in the top 5 nationally all of last season and welcome back 6’0 Xavier signee [player_tooltip player_id="219953" first="Fernanda" last="Ovalle"] (Xavier signee), 6’5 UCF signee <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="219954" first="Fatima" last="Diakhate"]</strong> and the 2023 duo of 5’10 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="219934" first="Rusne" last="Augustinaite"]</strong> and 5’10 <strong>Mjarcle Sheppard</strong>.

Coming off a strong showing in 2020-21 and a breakout season from <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91653" first="Chloe" last="Kitts"]</strong>. DME has added University of Auburn verbal commit <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91557" first="Sydney" last="Shaw"]</strong> (formerly at American Heritage Plantation) and 6’2 Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91577" first="Amiya" last="Evans"]</strong> (formerly at Tampa Bay Tech) to run alongside Kitts, 5’10 Rollins College signee <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="219949" first="Emily" last="McIntosh"]</strong>, and 5’9 Guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="247118" first="Sophia" last="Rueppell"]</strong>. The additions of Shaw and Evans make a solid squad stronger and make DME one of the top 10 teams in the state of Florida.

They lost one of the top scorers in the state <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91500" first="Samara" last="Spencer"]</strong>, who is now at the University of Arkansas but return a very talented group of players. University of Richmond verbal commit 6’1 Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154841" first="Jada" last="Green"]</strong>, Jada’s younger sister 2023 5’9 super athletic guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="219942" first="Reina" last="Green"]</strong>, two of the states’ top undecided guards <strong>Bre Gustave</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="220011" first="Maya" last="Williams"]</strong>, as well as 2023 combo guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91641" first="Karina" last="Gordon"]</strong> made up one of the strongest teams in the state. With the additions of 2023 6’1 Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="151282" first="Alancia" last="Ramsey"]</strong> (formerly at American Heritage Delray) and 2024 guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="221678" first="Kamryn" last="Corporan"]</strong> (formerly at Pace), St. Thomas is one of the strongest and deepest teams in the state and the favorites to repeat as FHSAA State Champions in 6A.

Coming off a 15-6 record, and losing their two top scorers to graduation <strong>Genesis Escalera </strong>and <strong>Jada McBride</strong>, South Fort Myers returns their # 3 and # 4 scorers <strong>Jireh Diggs</strong> (8.5 PPG) and <strong>Cameran Trapp</strong> (6.2 PPG) as well as <strong>Sydney Kashner</strong>. With just 3 returning players, the new look squad welcomes 9 new faces including Purdue verbal commit <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91562" first="Addison" last="Potts"]</strong> (formerly at Seffner Christian), 6’1 2023 Wing / Forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91648" first="Haley" last="Lang"]</strong> (formerly at Dunbar HS), 5’9 2023 guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="247192" first="Jayda" last="Green"]</strong> who was the leading scorer at Lehigh last year as a sophomore averaging 11.8 PPG, as well as <strong>Rylee Taber</strong>, <strong>V’davrielle Johnson</strong>, <strong>Jaylin Rivera</strong>, <strong>Makayla Sprague</strong>, <strong>Kimber Swift</strong>, and <strong>Aileen Wharcol</strong>.
