* Please keep in mind that I can only see what I see, and can’t see every minute of every game.
Makenna Clement Makenna Clement 6'1" | PF Lake Fenton | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Lake Fenton)
Clement got better as the day wore on. She battled in the paint and really stood out on the defensive end of the floor. Clement walled up on D and had a nose for the ball when it was going up. I feel like I saw a handful of blocks on the day and a significant number of times that she altered shots. Offensively, I liked that Clement showed the ability to work with her back to the basket as well as face the rim depending on her matchup.
Mary Copple Mary Copple 5'7" | PG Brighton | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, Brighton)
Copple was unstoppable at Let’s Get Ready V. She won the 3 point shooting competition and took home the Most Outstanding Player Award. Copple has taken her game to a completely new level this season and has established herself as a premier guard in the class of 2023. She will be one of the top shooters in the state this season…..hands down. But that’s just the start. Copple is super fast with the ball in her hands, pushing it down the court with blazing speed. She’s also a high IQ player that coaches can trust to make the right decision when the ball is in her hands.
Tayla Dillard Tayla Dillard 5'10" | CG Kalamazoo Central | 2024 State MI (2024, G/F, Kalamazoo Central)
You want to talk about improvement, the conversation starts right here. I saw a different player with a confidence and aggressiveness to go with it. Dillard showed the ability to attack off the dribble, as well as bury a jumper with range. Dillard was also, in all likelihood, one of the top rebounders at the event as well. She’s definitely a prospect to keep a close eye on as season approaches.
Liv Linden Liv Linden 5'7" | SG Hartland | 2023 State MI (2023, CG, Hartland)
Linden was, once again, one of the top players at the event. She can play very effectively at a high speed and shows her versatility with the ability to play on or off the ball. Linden created space off the dribble and was able to hit her mid range jumper on Saturday. She also showed the ability to break down the D, get in the lane with the ball, and dish it off to teammates for an easy score.
Deyonce Thompson Deyonce Thompson SG East Kentwood | 2022 State MI (2022, SG, East Kentwood)
Thompson was, at times, unguardable at Let’s Get Ready V. She showed a lot of shake with the ball, getting her defenders to lean, the crossing over and attacking from the other side. When Thompson got a defender on her hip, she was money finishing at the rim. Thompson even showed her 3 point range, nailing some really impressive pull up triples.
