This article will take a closer look at the 2023 class and the No. 25-27 prospects as ranked by the PGH NJ team.
No. 25: Kadirah Sanders Kadirah Sanders PF Paulsboro | 2023 State NJ – PF, Paulsboro
Sanders was an incredibly impressive forward this past season, averaging a double-double with 10.0 PPG and 11.3 RPG for Paulsboro. There was much indication that she was going to get to that mark after averaging just over 10.0 RPG as a freshman.
The offense just needed to come around, and it did in a big way this spring, and this is after she missed the first four games of the 2021 season. A 17-point, 14-rebound game in a 39-33 win over Audubon in February showed exactly what she can do on the floor.
This is a player who is already one of the best forwards in the state and is just getting better and better over the course of her high school career. Playing AAU ball with the Philly Belles has exposed her to top-level talent, and we’re seeing her success flourish on the court.
No. 26: Aaryn Battle Aaryn Battle 5'8" | SF Camden Catholic | 2023 State NJ – 5-10 SF, Camden Catholic
Battle made a crucial and important move in her career going into the spring, transferring from Clearview to Camden Catholic along with Kassidy Thompson Kassidy Thompson 5'9" | SG Camden Catholic | 2023 State NJ .
She made the most of the change, propelling the Irish into a conversation for the best in the Olympic Conference as she averaged 14.9 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 4.7 APG and 4.4 SPG in a shortened, nine-game season.
This is someone who has all of the tools to be a fantastic forward and she’s also been a versatile asset as a guard, moving from position to position with ease. There really isn’t one place on the floor that is a disadvantage to her and it comes with a near-complete overall game.
No. 27: Kayla McCrea Kayla McCrea SG Allentown | 2023 State NJ – 5-6 SG/PG, Allentown
McCrea was Allentown’s best player in the spring, averaging 13.5 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 4.2 APG and 2.2 SPG. She ended up leading the team in points and assists, was second in made three pointers and third in rebounds and steals.
She took a massive step forward this season after posting respectable numbers as a freshman. It was her sophomore year where she broke out, however, and playing for an AAU team like the NJ Shoreshots has boosted her confidence and play on the court.
Allentown ended up finishing 11-2 and 6-1 in the CVC, the class of the conference without a doubt. We’ll see just how much more she’ll be able to progress in her game this winter, but expect big things.
