The PGH NJ prospect rankings for New Jersey are fully out for this coming season and will be updated as the season progresses, but for now, it’s time to take a closer look at the top prospects in the 2023 class.
This article will look at the No. 40-42 junior prospects in New Jersey for this season as ranked by the PGH NJ team.
No. 40: Annie Ryan Annie Ryan 5'8" | SG Westfield | 2023 State NJ – 5-8 SG, Westfield
Ryan is one of the best overall shooters in North Jersey and is arguably the class of the UCC as she averaged nearly two made three-pointers a game in the spring.
She was second in scoring for Westfield, averaging 10.4 PPG, with 3.6 RPG and 2.0 SPG last season, and catapulted herself into the conversation for All-Conference honors. The biggest jump in production was perimeter shooting, but we saw this coming after tireless work in the gym.
Her play with the NJ Panthers also helped out tremendously as she’s really turned into a playmaking shooter with a multi-faceted game on the floor. The more Ryan can continue to take these jumps in production, the more she’ll jump into stardom.
No. 41: Lily Crowder Lily Crowder 5'11" | SF River Dell | 2023 State NJ – 5-11 PF/SF, River Dell
River Dell had an excellent season in the Big North in the spring, going 11-3, and Crowder was one of the main reasons for their success. She’s one of few forwards on the team, and she’s an excellent all-around player.
She can really push the tempo of the game in the middle, executing well on offense and drawing defenders and contact around the rim. Crowder is active on the boards on both sides of the ball and often keeps possessions alive after bad shot on offense.
The same is true on the defensive side of the ball as Crowder has showcased great shot-blocking ability and has great agility for a forward. She can be a stretch five if needed, but Crowder is going to be a force this winter.
No. 42: Ava Eberly Ava Eberly 5'10" | SG Williamstown | 2023 State NJ – 5-10 SG, Williamstown
Eberly had an incredibly dominant season in the Tri-County Conference, bursting onto the scene after limited playing time as a freshman. She led Williamstown in scoring and three-point shooting in her first full season on varsity, though a shortened season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the spring, she averaged 11.2 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.3 SPG and 1.7 made three-pointers a game. That amount of player growth in one season is beyond impressive and looking at what she did this summer with Team Final, the sky is the limit for her.
This will be Eberly’s first normal high school season this coming winter, so hopefully, the adjustment period won’t be long and she’ll be able to come out and show out like she did in her sophomore year.
