The travel season concluded at the end of July. We look back at one of Florida’s younger teams that performed well over this past spring/summer – the GT Queens 2024 squad.
Class of 2024
Nahilah Clarke 5’8 Shooting Guard (Calvary Christian Academy)
Clarke is a slasher who has the ability to break down opposing defenses off the dribble. She has a quick first step and does a good job getting by her initial defender and getting into the teeth of the defense to score at the rim or create an easy shot for her teammates. She was a starter as a Freshman for her High School team and has a high ceiling.
Class of 2025
Markeli-Tynes Jones 5’9 Point Guard (Calvary Christian Academy)
Jones is a 2-year varsity starter entering 9th grade who is one of the top 2025 prospects in the country. She already holds offers from Ohio State and FAU and was one of this summer’s biggest stock risers, garnering the attention of quite a few colleges from across the country. The dynamic scorer is a big, strong, athletic point guard who can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. She is effective getting into the paint and scoring at the rim vs contact. She can pull up from mid-range and knock it down from deep from 3. Her combination of a strong build, her athleticism, offensive skill level and the fact that she plays hard on both ends of the court stood out amongst the competition throughout the spring /summer making her one of the countries most coveted prospects and a super high ceiling!
Brianna Brown Brianna Brown 5'11" | SG Somerset Prep North Lauderdale | 2025 State FL 5’10 Wing / Forward (Calvary Christian Academy)
Brown stood out all spring / summer with her ability to knock down the open 3. She has good form, a quick release and shoots a high percentage. Her range extends several feet beyond the arc making her one of the top shooters in her class!
Sara Blair 6’5 Center (Dillard High School)
Walking in the gym, it does not take long to figure out who Blair is. At 6’5 with mass, she is the biggest player on the court in every game she plays. The combination of her height, build, and mass make her very effective in the paint and almost impossible to move off the block. She has good footwork and rebounds the ball well on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. She started varsity for Dillard High School as an 8th grader and got the attention of several universities this past travel season.
Nyla McFadden Nyla McFadden 5'11" | SF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2025 State FL 5’11 Wing (St. Thomas Aquinas)
McFadden really stood out this spring / summer because of her long wingspan, athleticism, energy, and ability to attack the basket. Her 5’11 frame and versatility are both things that college coaches are looking for and I think her best basketball is still yet to come as she continues to improve her offensive skill set. She has a nice mid-range shot, can finish through contact, and was one of the top shot blockers of the travel season consistently challenging shots often coming over from help side showcasing her impressive vertical!
Sydney Lumpkins 5’7 Shooting Guard (Pompano Beach High)
Lumpkins was a consistent spark for the GT Queens 2024 squad often providing an energy boost off the bench with her energy, hustle, and willingness to do the dirty work! She is a talented shooting guard that can consistently make an open 3, attack the basket, finish at the rim in traffic, and run the floor in transition.
Riley Stoker Riley Stoker 6'0" | PG Somerset Prep North Lauderdale | 2025 State FL 6’0 Shooting Guard (Western High School)
Stoker is a big guard who can knock down the open 3! She has a high basketball IQ, with good court vision, and is a good decision maker. She is an excellent shot blocker from the perimeter position and at 6’0 tall, has a high upside as her game continues to grow.
