The Eagles went 14-8 last season under head coach George Adams. Three of their eight losses came to rival Westminster Academy. The good thing is I see no major losses. A majority of this team is part of GT Queens during the summer.
2022 combo guard Elizabeth Schnell Elizabeth Schnell 5'7" | CG Calvary Christian Academy | 2022 State FL is the top scoring threat. The 5-foot-6 combo guard averaged 16.5 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field. Moreover, Schnell went 53-of-123 (43 percent) from deep. Both of those percentages show Schnell’s efficiency. She can score in bunches and be a huge spark at any moment. Schnell is an All-County pick.
2022 Samiyah Briggs Samiyah Briggs 5'7" | SG Calvary Christian | 2022 State FL brings additional firepower after averaging 11.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent from the field. Briggs has enough athleticism for either guard spot and can score in a variety of ways. She’s very good with her back to the basket and has a solid mid-range game. Overall, she is one of the more athetlic players on the team. Briggs is on her way to becoming a 1000-point scorer and is an all-county nominee.
2025 Markeli Jones-Tynes Markeli Jones-Tynes 5'9" | PG Westminster Academy | 2025 State FL is talented point guard with a bright future. The 5-foot-10 prospect averaged 6.9 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game while shooting 53 percent from the field. Jones-Tynes is a solid player with great ball skill and awareness. She is gaining experience and becoming more comfortable as a prospect. Jones-Tynes could be in for a big season and has high college potential.
2024 Jocelyn Gagnon Jocelyn Gagnon 5'10" | SF Somerset Prep North Lauderdale | 2024 State FL has plenty of height and length at the guard spot. The 5-foot-11 prospect averaged 6.6 points and three rebounds per game while shooting 39 percent from the floor. In addition, Gagnon knocked down 18 3-pointers. I think she has ability to stretch the floor and use her frame to make plays on both ends. Therefore, Gagnon should be more productive this season.
2024 Nahilah Clarke is kind of your slasher that can score off the dribble. The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 3.8 points and four rebounds per game. Clarke’s first step shows potential. She has a high ceiling with more development.
Calvary Christian needs to find a way to beat Westminster Academy. Generally speaking, they have plenty of chemistry and continuity to win meaningful games. I don’t think you can underestimate that point. Jones-Tynes could be the driving engine to a successful season.
