Four of the top eleven 2023 prospects have made their college decision. We take a look at the decisions of some of the state’s top 2023 prospects.
Taliah Scott Taliah Scott 5'8" | SG St. John's Country Day | 2023 State #31 Nation FL (Oakleaf HS / FGB) is Prep Girls Hoops Florida # 2 Prospect and # 31 Nationally. She is a high flying, scoring combo guard who can put it in the bucket in a variety of ways. At 5’8 she is one of the nation’s top athletes and chose Arkansas shortly after her unofficial visit to Fayetteville last month over a number of college suitors including University of Notre Dame, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn.
Jordyn Byrd Jordyn Byrd 6'3" | PF Cardinal Mooney | 2023 State #25 Nation FL (Cardinal Mooney / FGB) is Prep Girls Hoops Florida # 8 prospect. A two-sport athlete Byrd balanced her time going back and forth during the summer months between basketball and volleyball events. At 6’3, she is extremely athletic, versatile, and mobile with a big time vertical. She recently decided to verbally commit to the University of Texas for volleyball. The Longhorns are currently ranked # 1 in the country for Women’s Volleyball and stand 13-0 at the time this article was written.
5’9 scoring guard Emily Montes Emily Montes 5'9" | CG Palmer Trinity | 2023 State FL (Palmer Trinity / Team Knight) verbally committed to Columbia University of the Ivy League earlier this month after an unofficial visit to New York several weeks ago. Montes is the # 9 ranked prospect in the Prep Girls Hoops Florida rankings and has been one of the states’ top scoring guards for several years helping make Palmer Trinity one of the top 3A teams in Florida. She averaged 15.8 points per game as a Sophomore last year and had several bit time performances on the Adidas 3 Stripes circuit for Team Knight.
High flying 5’10 Wing/Forward Liv Fuller Liv Fuller 5'10" | SF Clearwater | 2023 State FL (Clearwater HS / FGB) verbally committed to Georgia Southern this month after a second unofficial visit to campus. The # 11 prospect in the Prep Girls Hoop Rankings, Fuller has consistently displayed her supreme athleticism in the travel circuit with the Tampa Aces, Tampa Thunder, and FGB as well as with Clearwater High School. She stands out amongst the competition with her passion, energy, and consistent hustle on both ends of the floor from tip off to buzzer.
With the # 2, # 8, # 9, and # 11 prospects all off the board in the class of 2023, who will be next. Emma Risch Emma Risch 6'2" | PG Palm Bay | 2023 State #23 Nation FL (Palm Bay / East Coast United) is the state’s top prospect and has a number of suitors including Louisville, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Florida, Miami, Ole Miss, and Georgia Tech.
# 3 D’Yanis Jimenez D’Yanis Jimenez 5'9" | PG Charlotte | 2023 State FL (Charlotte / Miami Suns), # 4 Khyala Ngodu Khyala Ngodu 6'2" | PF Dillard | 2023 State FL (Dillard HS / GT Queens), # 5 Chloe Kitts Chloe Kitts 6'2" | SF Faith Christian Academy | 2022 FL (DME Academy / Central Florida Elite), # 6 Kailani Lindsey Kailani Lindsey 6'1" | PF Wildwood | 2023 State FL (Wildwood HS / Central Florida Elite), # 7 Jada Jones Jada Jones 6'4" | PF Sandalwood | 2023 State FL (Sandalwood HS / FGB), and # 10 Olivia Davis Olivia Davis 5'7" | CG Cardinal Mooney | 2023 State FL (Cardinal Mooney / Alabama Southern Starzz) all hold D1 offers and had excellent summers with their respective travel teams.
