The first week of the season is upon us and we are looking for the best games on each day of the week. With it being a holiday week, there will not be any Thursday games. This is our breakdown of the week ahead.

Monday: Gehlen Catholic (0-0) vs Kingsley-Pierson (0-0) 7:30pm
This will be the fifth meeting all-time between these two teams and it should be a very good game. Gehlen Catholic has won each meeting and last year they won by 10 points, 73-63. Both of these teams are looking to make a run to state this year so this will be a fun early season contest. [player_tooltip player_id="129063" first="Lauren" last="Heying"] and [player_tooltip player_id="129080" first="McKenzie" last="Goodwin"] is going to be a fun battle to watch.
Tuesday: Dallas Center-Grimes (1-0) vs North Polk (0-0) 7:30pm
Dallas Center-Grimes opened their season last week and they took down defending 4A champion Ballard. Dallas Center-Grimes looked very good and now encounter a very good North Polk team. This is going to be a big game early on for both of these teams. Dallas Center-Grimes is a veteran squad while North Polk will be mixing and matching some experience with youth. Watch for the [player_tooltip player_id="63011" first="Makayla" last="Boatman"] and [player_tooltip player_id="127617" first="Emma" last="Miner"] duel in this game.
Friday: Ankeny Centennial (0-0) vs Urbandale (0-0) 6:00pm
A very small slate on Friday gives us one interesting matchup. Both of these teams have some young kids who figure to factor into the plans this year. Ankeny Centennial has seemed to reload a little bit with a good freshman class. Urbandale has some intriguing pieces to the puzzle. Ankeny Centennial is a state title contender while Urbandale is looking for some improvements. [player_tooltip player_id="129040" first="Cleao" last="Murray"] and Josie Birdwell should lead their respective teams this season.
Saturday: Nodaway Valley (0-0) vs Springville (0-0) 3:30pm
One of the best games taking place this weekend at Rivalry Saturday is the battle between these two teams. Nodaway Valley and Springfield both made it to Wells Fargo last season and are likely contenders to do it again this year. This will be one of the best games of the entire week as these teams return a lot to very good rosters. [player_tooltip player_id="63634" first="Maddax" last="DeVault"] for Nodaway Valley and [player_tooltip player_id="63613" first="Lauren" last="Wilson"] for Springville are going to be two players to watch in this one.
