PD Super Scrimmage: Under the Basket Part I

Last weekend, PD hosted a super scrimmage with schools from across the state. Here are some of the great athletes dominating underneath the basket from cities east of Charlotte.
Jocelyn Foust | Southwest Guilford | 2022
Foust follows shots and puts offensive boards right back up for her own points. She battles through contact earning her way to the free throw line. She has a nice jumper, too, that she shows off elevating over her defenders. Her length makes it easy for her to get deflections and grab steals. She boxes out and takes up space to make sure she’s the only one who can grab the rebound.
Aja Hairston | Southwest Guilford | 2022
Hairston makes strong moves to the basket. She can step back for a jumper or take it all the way to the hoop. She can defend many positions on the court taking the ball away from guards trying to get by her. She’s a strong rebound inside as well.

Lester showed off her ability to be versatile on the court shooting from deep and posting up underneath. She continues to be a dominant shot blocker, and she knows exactly when to time her defensive moves to cause the most trouble for her opponents. Her college build and IQ will certainly be an asset on the court for Louisville next year.

Ofunniyin (pictured above) runs the floor well being present in transition to score some points. She is aggressive in the paint grabbing the ball away from her defenders and boxing out going after rebounds. She hustles back on defense even showing off a nice block preventing her opponents from getting fast break points. Her ability to jump higher than her opponents makes it easier for her to show off her jump shot.
Corynn Perkins | Southwest Guilford | 2023
Perkins had a nice spin move while running on a fast break that finished with two points for her. She was able to block shots in the paint, and she had some nice steals that turned into fast breaks for her team. She keeps her head on a swivel on defense seeing the floor making sure cutters don’t get by her.
