Continue ReadingIt is finally November, which means the 2021-22 New Jersey high school girls basketball season will begin within a matter of just days now.
We will be watching basketball being played across the state this month, which brings a lot of anticipation and excitement to all parts of the state.
Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey is nearly done its prospect rankings profiles for our remaining prospects in the 2024 and 2025 classes. They’ll be coming out for the rest of this month and into December if need be, as well as our team previews.
With that being said, this article takes a look at the No. 10-12 sophomores in New Jersey as ranked by the PGH NJ team.
No. 10: Devyn Quigley Devyn Quigley 5'10" | SG Manchester Township | 2024 State NJ – 5-9 PG, Manchester Township
Quigley is going to be an incredibly important part of this Manchester Township team this season with Destiny Adams, one of the best 2021 prospects in the country, having graduated in the spring.
As a freshman, Quigley led the team in three-point shooting, was second in rebounding and blocks, and was third in scoring and assists. She returns as Manchester Township’s leading rebounder and blocker.
Having averaged 11.1 PPG and 7.1 RPG in the spring, Quigley now has her first full high school season ahead of her to dominate on the floor. Expect to see a possible double-double average as well as fantastic shooting from the perimeter.
No. 11: Sofia Sanchez Sofia Sanchez 5'7" | SG River Dell | 2024 NJ – 5-6 PG, Saddle River Day
Sanchez has made tremendous strides in her game in the AAU circuit, playing with NJ Sparks this summer. Her freshman season for high school went under-the-radar, but she took the summer to really work on re-tooling and improving her overall game.
She’s become an increasingly more aggressive offensive player, someone who is going to really push the tempo to get into the lane more often. Sanchez is a great facilitator of the ball and plays very unselfishly at times.
When she’s in the zone, good luck stopping her on the floor because she’s going to carve you up at the point and drive in for an easy deuce. This season is a wild card for her, but it should be an exciting one.
No. 12: Janasia Wilson Janasia Wilson SF Irvington | 2024 State NJ – SF, Irvington
Wilson absolutely dominated in her freshman season for Irvington, averaging nearly nine steals a game along with 19.3 PPG and 8.4 RPG in 11 games played.
Those are video game numbers and coming into this season, she is the returning leader in scoring, three-point shooting and steals, as well as tied in assists. She’s a bright young forward with a knack for fantastic defense as we saw in the spring.
The raw talent is there without a doubt and we’ve seen in a short sample the production level expected from her. Who knows if that will be her peak for high school, but a double-double average is well within the cards. Now, we’ll see if she can maintain this over a full season.
We have plenty more to come with the season fast approaching, so stay locked in with Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey for more content.
