Coaches Box Florida Prospects Christmas Tournament Standouts

The Florida Prospects tournament was loaded with talent from top to bottom. I had the opportunity to see the action live from the sidelines in the Coaches’ Box. The guard play was top notch and there was a lot of young talent on display.  Here are some of the athletes that stood out over the 3-day tournament. [player_tooltip player_id="247124" first="Vanessa" last="Diaz"] I 5’5 I Guard I 2023 I Gateway Diaz is a playmaker that doesn’t need much room to get her shot off. She faced numerous face guards throughout the tournament but always found a way to score. Has the ability to score at all 3 levels but most of all she is the floor general that brings that energy. Exciting player to watch on both ends of the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="248261" first="Malayna" last="Stevenson"] I 5’10 I Guard I 2024 I Gateway Long athletic guard that has the ability to play inside/outside. Her length allows her to create matchup problems when teams try to place smaller defenders on her. Showed her ability to shoot the 3 ball and attack the basket. A great defender that uses her length to get out in the passing lanes. Neri Moreau I 5’1 I Guard I 2022 I Gateway Moreau was one of the quickest guards I seen all tournament. Her ability to beat the press led to some easy transition baskets for her team. Sees the floor well on both ends and knows how to attack the basket strong. Strong ball handling skills and great floor awareness. One of the most exciting players to watch watch. Holland Harris I 6’2 I SF I 2025 I Lake Nona Harris is a young talent that continues to get better after each game. Long athletic frame which allows her to play on the block and defend on the wing. Energetic player that gets her team going. Has the ability to score at will. Nice post moves around the rim. [player_tooltip player_id="248331" first="Delaney" last="Richgels"] I 5’5 I SG I 2024 I Lake Nona Floor general. Always looking to get her teammates involved and plays tough through contact. Great on ball defender that knows how to pressure all over the court. [player_tooltip player_id="331752" first="Danika" last="Ballard"] I 5’8 I SG I 2024 I Boone Ballard is a dominant scorer that has range as soon as she steps on the court. Works hard on both ends and has a quick release which allows her to score at will. Has the ability to slash through the defense and finish at the rim. Excellent free throw shooter. Akirria Mountain I 5’5 I SG I 2022 I Glynn Academy Mountain showed her ability to score at all 3 levels. The team’s leading scorer going into the New Year. Showed her ability to hit the deep 3 but also attack the basket. One of the top rebounding guards for her size.
