A little late to the party, I was able to catch the final seven minutes of Eisenhower’s season open victory over Wichita North. A great opportunity to play on the Wichita State Shockers’ home floor of Koch Arena, players familiar and new to me showed some notable abilities. Both teams in this match-up are waiting on their share of fall sports athletes to join their squads.

Taylor Burkholder, 5’7", SG, 2023 - S - Tied in scoring with a team high eight points Burkholder showed quickness and speed, including with the ball in transition. Her length was disruptive in trapping situation as well.

Sometimes players keep teams occupied due to their presence on the floor and in this early season game did so with her interior movement, screening, and defense. Dameron all-around size and length made it difficult for teams to work around her and was put to good use by ball handlers to free themselves off the bounce.

The team's top scorer with eight points, Verbeck was a perimeter threat knocking down a pair of three balls.
Emilee Hollinger, 5'7", SG, 2023 - Balancing Verbeck as a three point threat is Hollinger. Registering three points off a made three, Hollinger also solidly helped control the half court offense and keep North's guards in check.

[player_tooltip player_id="124992" first="AmUnique" last="Cavitt"] 5’7", PG, 2022 - A strong ball handler, Cavitt showed her broad and strong skill set. She hit the walk-up three when not picked up, got to the basket frequently when she was, and was 5/6 from the line. Cavitt has good transition speed and very quick hands. Cavitt finished with 19 points including a pair of three balls.
Tyrescia Gordon, 5'6", SG, 2023 - Fast, athletic, and with good hops Gordon showed good transition speed. Showed a nice, quick release with elevation despite only scoring 2 points.
[player_tooltip player_id="345536" first="Taryn" last="St. Clair"], 5’9", SF, 2023 - With good length, speed, and raw athleticism St. Clair lead half- and full-court pressure. While her only scoring was from hitting one of two free throws, she is one of best athletes and has a strong motor.
