The talented Sophomore went for 20 points and knocked down 3 three-pointers in the process. Gavazzi scored in multiple ways in this contest, including drives to the goal from both sides of the court. Gavazzi was in this scoring lane earlier in the season with a 26 point outing. What’s impressive about Gavazzi is her mental toughness. She doesn’t flinch in pressure moments and she’s the player you want on the court when the game is on the line. Gavazzi has been impressive all season with her point guard play and her leadership on the court.
Riley Talbert Riley Talbert 5'9" | SG Bishop Kenny HS | 2024 State FL 2024, 5’9” G (Bishop Kenny) played well during the game against Andrew Jackson. Talbert seemed to always be in the right place at the right time. She handled the ball a considerate amount of the game and did a good job of handling pressure. Talbert showed great court vision and made a nice backdoor pass to a cutting teammate followed by a nice pass to a teammate cutting in the paint. Talbert also had some nice moves to the basket herself. Against Jackson High School, Talbert was also very efficient on offense scoring scored 14 points on just 8 shots. She followed that performance with another double-digit scoring performance against Ridgeview (10 points).
Isabelle Dionisio 2024, 5’2” G (Bishop Kenny). Dionisio brought the energy against Andrew Jackson and really affected her team with her aggressive defense and her ability to put pressure on opposing defenses. She does a great job of pushing the ball up the court and setting up the offense. She made great passes, handled the ball well, and made good decisions with the ball in her hand. She can cut on a dime with the ball in her hands and can immediately create numbers for her team on press breaks and in her team’s offensive sets. Dionisio doesn’t light up the scoreboard, but she is a consummate team player who knows her role well and affects the game with her energy, effort, and her presence on the court.
London Jenkins 2024, 5’4” G (Riverside) had an impressive showing this week including a 20 point performance at the end of week four. Jenkins carries a lot of the offensive load for her team and her ability to create off the dribble aids her in scoring and also makes it easier for her teammates to score. Jenkins is averaging 12 points per game and nearly 3 assists per game.
Eris Lester Eris Lester 5'10" | SF Montverde Academy | 2024 State FL 2024, 5’10 G (Orange Park) on the heels of her visit to Lipscomb University, Eris continued her stellar play in week four of her Sophomore season. The talented guard knocked down 25 points against a good University Christian team and she then followed that up with an 18 point performance over in the “Panhandle” of Florida against Rickards. Lester is averaging nearly 20 points per game and her ability to put up 20 points every outing is becoming routine. What’s different about Lester’s points is the manner that she is scoring: euros, stop and pops, step-back jumpers, regular layups, regular jump shots, etc. The Sophomore guard has been nothing but “super” this year. As impressive as Lester has been on offense she has been special on defense as well. She looks for the best offensive player on the opposing team and that’s who she picks up. Her on-ball defense is very good and she still plays the passing lanes as well as anyone. Lester also crashes the boards and averages over 5 rebounds per game.
